The Colts selected Florida QB Anthony Richardson with the fourth pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Richardson tested as the most athletic QB in NFL Combine history. A 4.43 forty-time, a 40.5-inch vertical, and a 129-inch broad jump are simply incredible. At 6’4, and 244 pounds, Richardson’s dynamic speed/power combo showed up at Florida. The 21-year-old tallied 654 rushing yards and 9 TDs in his one season as a starter. Inexperience is part of the problem here. But Richardson needs to kick durability concerns after suffering knee, ankle, and hamstring injuries in college. He also needs to show more down-to-down consistency — especially in the short to intermediate ranges. Ultimately, we see the 21-year-old improving over time. With elite rushing ability and plenty of arm talent, Richardson has the high-upside profile you should chase in rookie drafts. Landing on the Colts also turns up a nice schematic fit with HC Shane Steichen, who helped develop Jalen Hurts. Indy added Gardner Minshew this offseason, so the Colts don’t have to rush Richardson on the field. Current projections have the rookie for 11 games.
Colts QB Anthony Richardson completed 11 passes on 25 attempts for 200 yards and 1 TD in Week 4 vs. the Rams. The rookie was again productive as a runner, logging 56 yards and a TD on 10 carries in the contest. He unfortunately fumbles twice, losing one, but was very productive for fantasy managers overall in his first game back from a concussion. He also helped spearhead the effort to force the game into overtime after being down 20-0 at halftime, so kudos to him for that. Richardson will look to replicate his successes again in Week 5 vs. the Titans.
Colts QB Anthony Richardson has cleared concussion protocol and will start Sunday's game vs. the Rams, HC Shane Steichen said Friday. Richardson opened the season with a QB4 fantasy finish and then scored 17.7 fantasy points in less than one half of action in Week 2. The rookie is a legitimate QB1 play in Week 4 fantasy lineups.
Colts QB Anthony Richardson (concussion) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. The rookie remains in the concussion protocol but is close to being cleared. Barring a setback, he'll return for this weekend's game vs. the Rams.
Colts QB Anthony Richardson (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game vs. the Ravens. We’ll see if the rookie can get cleared for Week 4. Richardson will be replaced by QB Gardner Minshew, who played well in relief last week and has experience in HC Shane Steichen’s offense from their time together in Philadelphia. Minshew is only a viable play in 2-QB and Superflex leagues, but he should keep this Colts offense afloat.
Colts QB Anthony Richardson (concussion) remained sidelined on Thursday. He's now looking unlikely to play vs. the Ravens this weekend. That'd leave QB Gardner Minshew under center. Minshew is a capable passer, sporting a career 63% completion rate and 7.1 yards per attempt. And the Colts probably attempt at least a few more passes with Minshew than Richardson. WR Michael Pittman is a nice fantasy WR2 regardless of who's at QB for Indianapolis.
