The Buccaneers will not place the restricted tender on RB Sean Tucker, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. That'll make Tucker a free agent when the new year league starts next week. It's a slightly surprising move considering the tender would have paid Tucker a reasonable $3.52 million on a one-year deal. But the Buccaneers have never seemed to like him as much as many in the fantasy community.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Tucker has flashed for a couple of big games over the last two seasons. He piled up 192 total yards and two TDs vs. the Saints back in 2024 and then ripped the Bills for 140 total yards and three TDs this past season.
He reached double-digit carries in just two other games, though, and owns a mediocre 4.3 career yards per carry. Among 55 RBs with 80+ carries last year, Tucker ranked:
- 43rd in yards per carry
- 51st in yards after contact per attempt
- 51st in missed tackles forced per attempt
- 43rd in Pro Football Focus rush grade
We'll see where Tucker lands next, but he'll likely be battling for a committee role. He's just a late-round consideration in best-ball drafts for now.
Other Winners & Losers
Tucker's departure at least gives RB Bucky Irving a chance to pick up more goal-line work in 2026. Irving did not see a single carry inside the five-yard line last season. Tucker hogged seven of them in Irving's 10 games. RB Rachaad White, who's also a free agent, got two.
Of course, the Buccaneers will be adding to the backfield this offseason. We'll see exactly who arrives -- and what it'll mean for Irving's role.
