Here's Why You Should Think Carefully Before Drafting Dalton Kincaid

Bills TE Dalton Kincaid will need to play much more than he did in 2025 if he has a shot at becoming a comfortable weekly fantasy starter. Will it happen? According to Tim Graham, Bills beat writer for The Athletic, HC Joe Brady s "wondering how Buffalo will maintain Kincaid's week-to-week and play-to-play wherewithal." Brady reportedly discussed the possibility of Kincaid sitting out some practices during the season and "stated Kincaid simply might have to play through the pain." The issue is the PCL in his left knee, which Kincaid injured back in November 2024. He has avoided surgery each of the past two offseasons, but 2025 found him aggravating the knee on multiple occasions.

        What They're Saying

Brady: "He is as tough as can be. There’s a lot of things that he is pushing through that you guys might not see, and I think some of it is just learning how to play with certain elements of some movements that might not feel great, and he’s had to push through that. But when he’s out there, we’re better. That’s undeniable, and getting a plan with our strength staff, with our science-performance team of figuring out what that looks like week-to-week … How much does he have to practice so that he’s ready to go? What do we have to do with his movements? Because I’m understanding how important he is."

GM Brandon Beane in February: "Our No. 1 thing with Dalton is to see if we can get him in a healthier fashion this year, so that we don't have to A: miss games, and then B: limit how much he's playing."

Jeff Mueller, fantasy writer and actual physical therapist: "It's good when players don't need surgery for a PCL injury, but with it being aggravated this many times, there's real risk that his ligament will always be lax and could give him problems at any moment."

        2026 Fantasy Football Impact

The common thread through those quotes is caution. And that's the way you should approach Kincaid in 2026.

He played in just 12 games last year, drew a career-low 37.6% snap share across those games, and didn't reach 40% in a regular-season contest after Week 5. (He did rebound slightly to 44.4% and 48.7% in the two playoff contests.)

Kincaid can help the Bills in a role that sized. But he'll need to climb back above 50% to be someone we can start in typical fantasy leagues. And we'd like to get him back above 60%, like he was as a rookie.

This situation will obviously bear watching throughout the offseason, and we'll reassess every time there's new info or other data.

For now, though, Kincaid looks pretty risky at his TE10 Underdog Fantasy ADP.

You certainly don't need to lay off the Bills TE at that price, in a format that rewards chasing ceiling over worrying about downside risk. But Kincaid's not overly attractive at that price. And he'll present more risk for lineup-setting formats.

        Dynasty Impact

I'd be willing to trade Kincaid in dynasty if you get a good offer. But this seems unlikely to be a period of strong valuation for him.

Thanks to the playing-time limitations I mentioned above, he checked in just 15th among TEs in PPR points per game last season and 19th in total points.

Kincaid could be worth a price check on the sell market, though, if his his dynasty valuation matches that TE10 ADP.
