Packers TE Tucker Kraft said Wednesday that he expects to play and be full-go for the season opener. He's about seven months removed from surgery to repair a torn ACL and partially torn LCL and meniscus in his right knee. Kraft said he hit 21.5 mph while sprinting recently. There were only 16 faster ball carriers recorded last season by Next Gen Stats (although that's with pads on).
What They're Saying
Kraft: “I feel great. My quad looks great. Swelling is minimal to none. No weird pains and aches coming out of my treatment and my trainings, so we’re really excited to get this ball rolling, and we’re gonna take off. ... I’m not really buying into the ‘people come back off an injury and aren’t the same.’ … If you’re not coming back off your injury the same, then what are you doing? What were you doing your entire rehab? Some people might not be the same, but they don’t speak for me.”
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
The news on Kraft's progress has been positive for a while now. HC Matt LaFleur said in late May that the TE had a chance to be ready for the start of training camp. Barring a setback, Kraft should be out there come Week 1.
Despite his optimism, though, we don't expect him to be at 100% right away. It often takes players 12 months to fully recover from ACL injuries. Kraft also had damage to his LCL and meniscus.
That's especially concerning for Kraft because his fantasy production last year was fueled by efficiency. He led all TEs in PPR points per game through Week 8 but ranked:
- 9th in targets
- 7th in target share
- 12th in expected points per game
Expect him to produce as more of a mid- to low-end TE1 early on this season. He has a chance to be better over the second half.
