The Texans are searching for pass catchers after it was announced a couple days ago that Jayden Higgins tore his ACL. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the team brought in Sterling Shepard, Josh Reynolds, and Zay Jones for workouts.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Higgins Leaves a Void
It certainly isn’t an inspiring group of names to add to the passing game, at least at this stage in their career. But replacing a second-round WR heading into his second season after he lit up training camp was always likely to disappoint.
Higgins averaged 7.6 PPR fantasy points per game (PPG) as a rookie. That wasn’t much, but Shepard hasn’t reached that mark in five seasons, while Reynolds and Jones haven't done it in three.
The Texans' passing attack offers high volatility heading into C.J. Stroud’s fourth season, and the offense is likely worse off without Higgins regardless. But there is a chance for deep weekly upside with whichever WR the team signs.
