49ers RB Christian McCaffrey returned to practice on Sunday after missing the previous two weeks. He said afterward that he'd planned to take a break during training camp before ramping back up. "I feel great," McCaffrey added. "It’s about being fresh for the duration. 17 Sundays."
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Overall RB1 Upside Intact
Any missed practice time for McCaffrey rightfully sounds alarms. But there was never anything to suggest he was dealing with a serious injury this time around. And, barring something else popping up over the next couple of weeks, he should be at 100% come Week 1.
McCaffrey carries as much injury risk as any RB, and his rushing efficiency was worryingly poor last year. But his volume, particularly in the passing game, still carried him to an overall RB1 finish.
That upside remains in 2026, putting McCaffrey in play as early as the middle of the first round in fantasy drafts.
