The Seahawks are signing RB Joe Mixon to their practice squad, pending a physical, according to multiple reports. Our last update on Mixon came in July and read, "Joe Mixon doesn't expect to play again." He missed the entire 2025 campaign after suffering a mysterious foot injury that offseason. Mixon ran for 1,016 yards on 4.1 yards per carry back in 2024. He turned 30 in July.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
This is a strange story for multiple seasons.
First of all, it seemed like Mixon's career was over considering that injury, his age, and the fact that he sat out an entire year.
Second, the Seahawks are about to get RB Zach Charbonnet back and just spent a first-round pick on RB Jadarian Price, who's eligible to come off IR in three weeks. RB Emanuel Wilson also played well in Week 4.
Perhaps the Mixon signing says something about Charbonnet and/or Price's health, but that's just speculation on our part.
We'll continue to keep tabs on this backfield, but Mixon is only worth adding if you have a roster spot to play with. Charbonnet remains a better stash.
