Broncos HC Sean Payton is taking over offensive play-calling duties for Sunday's game vs. the Chargers. The news was initially reported by former NFL WR Brandon Stokley and has since been confirmed by Pro Football Talk. Denver's offense has been a major disappointment with OC Davis Webb calling plays over the first four weeks.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
The Broncos offense has taken a big step back from the last year in most major categories.
| 2025 | 2026 | |
| Points Per Game | 23.6 | 18.5 |
| Yards Per Game | 343 | 280 |
| Yards Per Play | 5.3 | 4.9 |
It's not all on Webb. QB Bo Nix has not played well so far, and Denver's run game has been non-existent.
But Payton, one of the best offensive minds in NFL history, taking back over as play caller could solve those issues. We'll see how this shakes out in Week 5, but we're optimistic about Denver's offense getting back on track.
