Vikings QB Kyler Murray's status for Monday night's game vs. the Bills is "at best up in the air," according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Schefter adds that QB Carson Wentz is trending toward starting that game. Murray came out of last week's loss to the Lions with what the team called hamstring tightness, although we believe it's likely a low-grade strain. We'll track his practice participation over the next few days, but fantasy managers should not be planning on having Murray for Week 9 lineups.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Wentz played well in relief of Murray in the opener, throwing for 133 yards and 3 TDs on 19 attempts. He struggled in a rain-soaked Week 2 game vs. the Bears, completing 11 of 20 passes for 143 scoreless yards.
Wentz is beating Murray in yards per attempt (7.1 to 6.6) and passer rating (106.4 to 86.6) on the season. Consider this a lateral move for Minnesota's pass catchers.
Wentz himself is only in play in 2-QB and superflex leagues.
