Saints QB Andy Dalton completed 20 of 28 passes (71.4%) for 236 yards (8.4 yards per attempt) and 1 TD in Sunday's narrow loss to the Vikings in London. He spread the targets around, with WR Chris Olave drawing a team-high 7, WR Marquez Callaway getting 6, TE Juwan Johnson seeing 4 and no one else topping 3. Olave's 4 receptions and 67 yards led the team. Four other Saints caught 3 balls. Jarvis Landry came away with a mere 2 catches for 7 yards on 2 targets. We'll see about QB Jameis Winston's status for the Week 5 home date with Seattle.

The Saints have downgraded QB Jameis Winston (back, ankle) to out for Sunday's game in London. That leaves Andy Dalton to start.

Saints QB Jameis Winston is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Vikings in London because of back and ankle injuries that have kept him out of practice this week. That will leave Andy Dalton as the starter. Dalton's career completion rate (62.2%) stands just 0.9 percentage points higher than Winston's, so we're not ready to project a boost in catch rate for Saints skill players. Dalton's shorter career average depth of target, though (8.6 vs. Winston's 10.8) could alter the offensive approach. Dalton's style could help the target shares of RB Alvin Kamara and WR Jarvis Landry in particular. We're still betting on WR Michael Thomas' absence affecting the pass-catchers' outlooks more than the QB switch, though. Missing Winston also could mean a few more Taysom Hill snaps behind center. He carries some upside if you're reaching deep for a TE. But we wouldn't play Hill over anyone from David Njoku up in this week's TE rankings.

Saints QB Jameis Winston (back, ankle) remained sidelined for Thursday's practice. Both Winston and HC Dennis Allen have expressed optimism about the QB's chances of playing vs. the Vikings on Sunday morning, but we'll see what he's able to do on Friday. QB Andy Dalton will start for New Orleans if Winston can't.

Saints QB Jameis Winston has yet to be cleared for 11-on-11 workouts, according to the team website. Winston has been seen on the field in OTAs but is awaiting that final clearance to practice in full. We'd expect it to come at least by some early point in training camp but will keep an eye on the situation. Andy Dalton has run the starting offense in Winston's absence this week.

The Saints signed QB Andy Dalton to a 1-year deal. It contains $3 million in guaranteed money and can be worth "up to" $6 million, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. That's backup money, which is what Dalton figures to be behind Jameis Winston in New Orleans. The signing will allow Taysom Hill to focus on TE, as HC Dennis Allen said he would earlier today.

Bears QB Justin Fields was placed on the COVID list on Thursday. He'll very likely miss this weekend's finale vs. the Vikings. That figures to put Andy Dalton back under center for Chicago.

Bears QB Andy Dalton will start Sunday's game vs. the Giants, HC Matt Nagy announced on Friday. QB Nick Foles will be the backup, so QB Justin Fields evidently isn't ready to return from that ankle injury. Dalton is just a low-end QB2 in fantasy lineups, although he's not a significant downgrade from Fields for Chicago's skill-position guys.

Bears HC Matt Nagy said Friday that QB Nick Foles will start Sunday's game vs. the Seahawks. QB Andy Dalton (left hand, groin) is out for Week 16, while QB Justin Fields (ankle) was unable to practice on Thursday or Friday. Nagy said that Fields might be active on Sunday, but it'd be as Foles' backup. Foles made 7 starts for the Bears last season, averaging 238 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT on a 66% completion rate and 5.9 yards per attempt.

Bears QB Justin Fields (ankle) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Seahawks. He was limited on Wednesday but didn’t practice on Thursday or Friday. It’s safe to assume that Fields won’t be at 100% if he starts Sunday’s game, which makes him tough to like in fantasy lineups. QB Andy Dalton (left hand, groin) is out for Week 16, so QB Nick Foles will get the start if Fields is out.

After a limited practice on Wednesday, Bears QB Justin Fields (ankle) did not practice on Thursday. His availability for this weekend's game vs. the Seahawks is now in question. QB Andy Dalton was activated from the COVID list on Thursday and would likely start if Fields is out. Check back tomorrow for another update on the rookie.

Bears HC Matt Nagy told reporters Wednesday that doctors have cleared QB Justin Fields to return from his rib injury and that the rookie will start Sunday night at Green Bay. We're not sure Fields' return significantly impacts the fantasy outlook for any Chicago skill-position players, especially against a Packers D that has been a tough matchup for opponent passing games. But Fields' play had been improving just before the injury, so this should be a positive turn overall.

Bears QB Justin Fields (ribs) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Cardinals. The rookie was limited in practice this week, giving him a shot to return in Week 14. QB Andy Dalton gets another start today.

Bears QB Justin Fields (ribs) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game vs. the Cardinals. The rookie got back on the practice field this week, setting him up for a Week 14 return. Andy Dalton gets another start this Sunday but is a low-end QB2 vs. Arizona's 3rd-ranked QB defense.

Bears QB Justin Fields (ribs) put in a limited practice on Wednesday. HC Matt Nagy said that QB Andy Dalton took the 1st-team reps, though. That would seem to position the veteran as the favorite to start Sunday's game vs. the Cardinals, but we'll continue to monitor the situation.

Bears QB Andy Dalton will start Thursday's game vs. the Lions, HC Matt Nagy said. QB Justin Fields' rib injury isn't believed to be serious, but he evidently won't be ready for the quick turnaround. We'll see if he can make it back for Week 13. Despite the plus matchup, Dalton is only in play in 2-QB leagues and Thanksgiving DFS contests.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says it'll be an "uphill battle" for Bears QB Justin Fields to play vs. the Lions on Thanksgiving. X-rays on Fields' ribs came back clean, but we're still waiting to hear the results from addiitonal testing being done today. Even if he avoided a significant injury, the quick turnaround to the 12:30 pm ET kickoff on Thursday will make it tough for the rookie to be ready. For now, plan on QB Andy Dalton starting that one.

Bears QB Justin Fields suffered a rib injury in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Ravens. He's questionable to return. We'll update Fields' status when we know more. QB Andy Dalton is in for Chicago.

Update: Fields has been ruled out.

Bears HC Matt Nagy announced Wednesday that Justin Fields will remain the starting QB, despite Andy Dalton being ready to return this week. It's fair to wonder whether this decision actually came from Nagy and the coaching staff or higher up, but it doesn't really matter. The rookie remains the QB with the higher fantasy ceiling, even though he has yet to display it. He rebounded for 209 passing yards on just 17 attempts against the Lions in Week 4, coming off the dreadful Week 3 at Cleveland. But Fields will need to show us more before we can reasonably start him in 1-QB redraft lineups. David Montgomery's knee injury might force Chicago into a bit more passing volume over the next month.
