Robinson benefited from the absence of RB Antonio Gibson (out with an ankle injury) but also set his season high in receptions for the second straight game. Robinson added 73 yards on 17 carries in a positive rushing matchup. We'll see about Gibson's availability for Week 12. Robinson might need that help to reach the top 24 in our RB rankings for a matchup at Dallas. Robinson's next four weeks look rough -- including a Week 14 bye. A Week 16 visit to the Jets stands as his only remaining positive matchup. If your trade deadline hasn't passed yet, consider trying to trade the Washington RB.

Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. tallied 63 yards and a TD on 18 carries in Sunday's victory over the Patriots. His 3.5 yards per carry weren't remarkable, but the 18 attempts were his most since Week 2. Robinson had averaged just 9.7 rushes per game since then, a stretch that saw the Commanders go 1-5. Robinson's high of 14 carries in that stretch came in an OT loss at Philly that Washington led most of the way. Sunday did mark the fifth game among the past six in which Robinson averaged 3.5 yards per rush or less. And he's likely to continue seeing game flow significantly impact his touch counts. Robinson drew just 2 targets against New England, his fourth straight game with 2 or fewer. He has exceeded 2 in a game just twice all year and caught more than two passes in a game only once. A Week 10 meeting with Seattle -- which struggled mightily at Baltimore on Sunday -- looks fairly neutral for Robinson. A Week 11 date with the Giants looks good. Matchups with the Cowboys and Dolphins the following two weeks don't look favorable and precede a Week 14 bye. Look for worthwhile opportunities to sell Robinson over these next few weeks, if you have him.

Commanders RB Brian Robinson split carries with rookie Chris Rodriguez in Week 5. Rodriguez actually led the team in rushing yards, gaining 31 on 7 attempts. He didn’t draw a target on 42 Sam Howell passes, though. And his college background suggests he’s an underwhelmed receiver. Rodriguez isn't a high-upside option, but for RB-needy owners in deep formats, the Kentucky product is worth stashing on benches. A tough Philly front seven awaits in Week 8.

While his rushing output was somewhat disappointing, he added 2 catches for 25 yards and a receiving TD in the contest. Fortunately, next week presents a solid “get right” opportunity for Robinson Jr. vs. the Giants.

He struggled to find running room early on, and the Bears fell behind 17-0 early in the second quarter. Robinson's final carry came with 9:28 left in the second quarter. He at least added 33 yards on four catches, but it was still an ugly fantasy outing in what looked like a great spot. That's the risk when dealing with a game script-dependent RB. Robinson wound up getting out-snapped 38 to 25 by RB Antonio Gibson in this one. The good news is that the Commanders shouldn't face much negative game script the next two weeks vs. the Falcons and Giants. (Of course, we didn't think they'd get crushed by the Bears at home.)

Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. gained just 45 yards on 14 carries (4.2 per rush) in Sunday's OT loss to the Eagles. But he scored one of Washington's two rushing TDs. (WR Curtis Samuel delivered the other from 1 yard out.) Robinson added 2 receptions for 6 yards on 2 targets. Robinson nearly had another TD as well, but he fumbled near the goal line and watched teammate Terry McLaurin recover it for the score. Antonio Gibson remained behind him in both phases, going just 6-19 rushing with one catch for 7 yards. Robinson gets a much more favorable matchup with Chicago in Week 5, then a tougher spot at Atlanta but another upside matchup at the Giants in Week 7.

Commanders RB Brian Robinson hogged backfield work in Sunday's win over Denver. The second-year man compiled 87 yards and 2 TDs on 18 attempts (4.8 YPC). Robinson added 2-42 receiving, while backup Antonio Gibson mixed in for only 5 total touches. Robinson believes this is just the beginning of a breakout season. “I know I got a lot more in the tank that I can show,” he said after the win. “I’m taking those strides week in and week out. Eventually, it’ll be all out on display.” Robinson will face a pair of tough matchups (Bills and Eagles) over the next two weeks. He remains an RB2.

Teammate RB Antonio Gibson saw 3 carries for 9 yards and added a single catch for 10 yards before a costly fumble saw him evaporate from the game. There are few things NFL coaches hate more than fumbles, and he paid dearly for it by being replaced by rookie RB Chris Rodriguez to end the contest. Fantasy managers will have a better idea of what the RB workshare split looks like in Week 2 vs. the Broncos, though it will be tough to bet against Robinson being the favorite Commanders’ back next Sunday.

SI’s Albert Breer writes that Commanders RB Chris Rodriguez “will have a role (maybe a big one)” in 2023. Per Breer, the rookie Round 6 pick “has shown aggression and efficiency as a runner.” That matches up with his pre-draft profile. Over the past four seasons at Kentucky, the 220-pounder racked up 3,601 yards and 32 TDs. He added only 20 receptions over that stretch, though. And it’s tough to see him emerging as a fantasy factor behind Brian Robinson and Antonio Gibson.

Commanders RB Brian Robinson said his health is "night and day" now compared to last season. No surprise considering he was shot twice in the lower half last August. Robinson got off to a slow start when he returned from that incident, but he averaged a solid 4.4 yards per carry over his final six games. His lack of pass-catching upside caps his fantasy upside, but Robinson could certainly be a useful fantasy starter in half- and non-PPR fantasy leagues.

Washington spent a sixth-round pick on Kentucky RB Chris Rodriguez Jr. He averaged a strong 6.2 yards per carry for his career but caught only 20 passes. Rodriguez also spent five years in college and will turn 23 in September. It took him until 2021 to take over the Wildcats backfield. We're not betting on Rodriguez overtaking Antonio Gibson or Brian Robinson Jr. on the 2023 depth chart. But he'll be interesting to watch if injuries occur ahead of him.

The Commanders fired OC Scott Turner. Washington never ranked better than 20th in total yards or 23rd in points across Turner's 3 seasons, although QB play was seemingly a bigger problem than Turner's play calling. We'll see who the Commanders tab as their next OC -- and what they do at QB. Carson Wentz is set to count $26 million against the 2023 cap but can be cut with no dead-cap penalty.

The Cowboys' defense rank as the 4th-toughest matchup for opposing RBs in adjusted fantasy points allowed this season. It would've been tough to trust Robinson or Antonio Gibson, who underwent foot surgery on Thursday, in this game for fantasy purposes. We feel even more skittish about the backups. Neither Williams nor Patterson is anything more than speculative RB3/flex consideration.
