Vikings MLB Eric Kendricks left in the 1st quarter of Sunday's loss at Washington with a hip injury. He initially left on the team's 1st defensive possession after colliding with teammate Anthony Barr. Kendricks returned but left again shortly thereafter. We'll check on his status this week heading into a high-volume matchup with the Cardinals in Week 11. Barr and Chad Greenway each played nearly 100% of the snaps with Kendricks sidelined.

The Vikings have ruled MLB Eric Kendricks (concussion) out for Sunday's game against the Lions. Audie Cole will likely start in his place but is just a mediocre IDP option. Kendricks' absence takes a bit of the big-play upside out of Minnesota's D but not enough to significantly alter the outlook for redraft formats.

Vikings MLB Eric Kendricks (ribs) is officially probable for Sunday's game against the Packers. He appears ready for a full return after putting in full workouts all week. The matchup isn't great for LB scoring, but Kendricks' multi-category ability -- plus Green Bay's uncharacteristic offensive struggles -- make Kendricks worth starting in most IDP leagues.

Vikings MLB Eric Kendricks put in full practices Wednesday and Thursday as he works back from a rib injury that cost him 2 games. That seems to put him on track to start Sunday against Green Bay. If he's active, Kendricks will belong back in most IDP lineups.

Vikings OLB Anthony Barr (hand) is active for today's game at Oakland. Use him as you normally would in your IDP league, though the hand issue could certainly impact his ability to fight through blockers or catch passes. MLB Eric Kendricks (ribs) is inactive, as expected. Chad Greenway should play full time for the 2nd straight week and carries IDP sleeper potential.

The Vikings might be missing 2 of their 3 starting LBs Sunday in Oakland. MLB Eric Kendricks (ribs) is doubtful despite returning to a limited practice Friday. That would mark his 2nd missed game, though the Friday return has us hopeful for Week 11. OLB Anthony Barr (hand) also returned to a limited practice Friday after sitting out Wednesday and Thursday. He's questionable for Sunday. HC Mike Zimmer had said earlier in the week that he though both guys would be ready. Minnesota will likely get DT Sharrif Floyd back for the Oakland game. Floyd's probable after a full Friday workout and limited sessions the previous 2 days. He missed the past 3 games after a foot injury that required surgery. He's officially listed with knee and ankle issues in the current report but has said he'll play. IDP owners should wait to see Floyd back in action before considering him a starting option. Veteran Chad Greenway turned back into a full-time LB with Kendricks out last week and will be an IDP option again this weekend.

Vikings MLB Eric Kendricks wouldn't give any details on his rib injury Monday after missing the Week 9 win over the Rams. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that Kendricks said he's "not allowed" to discuss his injuries when reporters asked whether he's dealing with broken ribs. “I’m feeling good, but I’m still going to take it day-by-day,” Kendricks said. “I’m doing my best to get better. I’m in treatment every day. I’m listening to my body at this point … That’s all I can say.” We'll see if he returns to practice this week.

The Vikings have ruled MLB Eric Kendricks out for Sunday's game against the Rams with a rib injury. That will press Audie Cole into the starting role but against a team that has provided the fewest LB points in the league.

The Vikings on Tuesday traded MLB Gerald Hodges to the 49ers. That likely turns him into a backup in San Francisco. More importantly, it finally clears the way for rookie MLB Eric Kendricks to start in the middle in Minnesota. The Vikings have seemed to be trending that way in recent weeks, and Kendricks began taking passing-down duty from Hodges back in the preseason. Kendricks tallied 9 solo tackles in the Week 3 win over San Diego and added 4 solos plus a sack at Denver last Sunday. He carries LB1 upside the rest of the way, and has already shot up or Rest of the Way IDP rankings.

The Vikings on Tuesday announced that LB Gerald Hodges will start in the middle Monday night against the Niners. Hodges enjoyed a nice preseason and has flashed good tackle potential in sparse previous starting chances. But Eric Kendricks replaced him in passing sub packages late in the preseason. That setup seems likely to continue, given Kendricks' skills in coverage. We'd still bet on the rookie taking over the starting gig before the end of the season. Hodges presents some tackle upside in the opener if you play in a particularly tackle-heavy format. But his likely 2-down role limits that scoring potential.

Vikings LB Eric Kendricks remained a backup in the 4th preseason game Saturday, so it's clear the team doesn't plan to open with him in the middle in base packages. LB Gerald Hodges played that role against the Cowboys. The rookie replaced him in the nickel package, however, before playing the full MLB role with the 2nd unit. Kendricks played well in both run defense and coverage in the game. It's disappointing that he won't start right away, but his role Saturday night provides some optimism that he could take over the job at some point this season. Kendricks still makes for a more interesting -- and higher-upside -- late stash in your IDP league than Hodges.

Vikings HC Mike Zimmer told the team website about LB Eric Kendricks, "I think he’s further ahead than most rookies." Zimmer then qualified his comments a bit, but it's clear that he's happy with how Kendricks is showing early. The rookie will have to tank this summer to lose the starting MLB job. Kendricks appears headed for a key role right away and some nice fantasy-scoring potential. Check our 2015 IDP rankings to see just how optimistic we are.

The Vikings somewhat surprisingly got LB Eric Kendricks well into Round 2 of the NFL Draft on Friday night. The most surprising part was that 2 other ILBs preceded him off the board. Many draft evaluators ranked Kendricks tops among inside guys. In Minnesota, he projects as the starting MLB and a 3-down player. Kendricks tallied 5 INTs and 10 sacks over his career, which says a bit about his versatility. Chad Greenway is getting older and hasn't been a terrific coverage LB. He could be looking at more 2-down duty going forward, which would chip away at his IDP value. Don't be surprised if Greenway checks in 3rd among Vikings LBs when our 2015 IDP rankings arrive.
