Vikings DT Linval Joseph missed Wednesday's practice with a foot injury, while S Andrew Sendejo sat with the knee injury that knocked him out of the Week 12 win early. Sendejo's not worth waiting on in your IDP league, but Joseph will carry big upside against the Seahawks if he plays. OLB Anthony Barr (groin) and S Harrison Smith (knee) put in limited practices Wednesday. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that Smith sounded optimistic about his chances of returning Sunday. Barr was listed with a new groin injury and the hand issue that has been around for weeks. We'll see about his status, but the fact that he practiced Wednesday points to him likely playing against Seattle.

Vikings S Harrison Smith (knee) is inactive today against the Falcons. Antone Exum will start in his place. DE Everson Griffen (hip) is active, as he said he would be. Use him as you normally would in your IDP league. The Vikings D takes a hit without Smith but remains usable in fantasy football.

Two key Vikings defenders are questionable for Sunday's game in Atlanta. S Harrison Smith (knee) and DE Everson Griffen (hip, shoulder) each returned to limited practices Friday after missing the previous 2 days. HC Mike Zimmer told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that he thought both would play Sunday. Griffen declared himself ready, while Smith reportedly only talked about trying to get ready. We'll update their statuses Sunday morning.

Vikings S Harrison Smith hurt his left knee in Sunday's loss to the Packers, though he missed just 5 snaps with it in that game. He sat out Wednesday's practice but has downplayed the injury this week, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. We'll see how he progresses through the practice week.

As expected, Vikings S Harrison Smith is active against the Lions and will play through his ankle sprain.  The injury certainly adds risk, but fantasy's top-scoring DB so far also carries big upside against Lions QB Matthew Stafford.  Smith is worth the risk for your DB slot in most cases.  As expected, LB Chad Greenway will miss another game with his rib injury.

The Vikings deemed S Harrison Smith questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions after he put in 2 days of limited practice on his sprained ankle.  Smith appears on track to play, and the 1 p.m. ET kickoff means we'll get official word in time to set lineups.  OLB Chad Greenway is doubtful because of a rib injury, though HC Mike Zimmer wasn't ready to commit Friday to Greenway's status.  "He did a little bit of work today, so we'll see how it goes, how he is tomorrow," Zimmer said, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.  IDP owners should plan on not having Greenway available.  The Vikings D makes for an upside option overall on daily sites against a Detroit offense that's down WR Calvin Johnson and RB Reggie Bush and has allowed a lot of sacks the past 2 weeks.

Vikings HC Mike Zimmer told reporters Wednesday that S Harrison Smith is "probably going to play" Sunday against Detroit despite the ankle that he sprained in Week 5.  "It feels a lot better than I thought it would," Smith said before practice, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "It's still something that's out of my hands. I'm going to do the best I can to prepare myself. Not putting too much stress on it."  We'll keep an eye on his practice participation and any signs of a setback or less optimism for the star safety.  Expect a "questionable" designation heading into Sunday, but at least the 1 p.m. ET kickoff will give us some clarity as IDP owners set Week 6 lineups.

Vikings S Harrison Smith sported a boot on his left foot and crutches Friday after his team's Thursday night loss to the Packers.  According to Brian Hall of Fox Sports North, however, HC Mike Zimmer called the injury a "little ankle" deal and didn't seem concerned.  We'll obviously keep an eye on the status of the current top-scoring IDP, but it helps that Smith will have about a week and a half to heal up before his Week 6 contest.

The Vikings expect S Harrison Smith to play Sunday against the Eagles but won't start him, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.  Smith has been out with turf toe since Oct. 14 and can;t officially come off IR until Friday.  He and his coaches admit that returning against the fast-paced Eagles offense will pose a challenge.  HC Leslie Frazier is also waiting to see how Smith's injury responds to practice this week.  Andrew Sendejo and Jamarca Sanford will continue to start, but Smith's return adds risk to both as IDP options in your fantasy football league.

The Vikings will place S Harrison Smith (turf toe) on IR with the designation to return in 8 weeks.  That, of course, would make him ineligible until Week 15 and thus basically useless to anyone in a redraft fantasy football league.  Go ahead and drop Smith for a replacement if you've been optimistically holding out.  It's not yet clear whether his injury will require surgery.  It is adorable, though, that the Vikings think they actually might be in the playoff hunt over the final few weeks of the season.

Vikings S Harrison Smith might need surgery for the turf toe on his left foot.  If he does, it would likely end his season.  HC Leslie Frazier formally ruled Smith out for Monday's game with the Giants.  We should find out soon just how much longer he'll be out.  Smith is safe to drop in many IDP leagues but might be worth keeping a bit longer in deep formats.  Teammate Jamarca Sanford can be a quality pick up in his place.

Vikings S Harrison Smith left Sunday's loss to Carolina with a turf toe injury to his left foot.  HC Leslie Frazier said after the game that Smith will have an MRI to determine the extent of the damage.  His absence would be a significant loss for IDP lineups.

The Vikings jumped up from 35 to 31 Thursday night to take Notre Dame S Harrison Smith. Smith tends to be viewed as more of a strong safety, but he made plays on the ball in college. He posted 7 INTs as a junior in 2010 and then broke up 10 passes as a senior. He'll start easily for the Vikings and should see plenty of work in a pass-happy division. Smith could deliver fantasy-starter value right away.
