Colts QB Jacoby Brissett (concussion) was listed as a full participant in Wednesday's practice. He's on track to receive full clearance ahead of this weekend's game against the Titans. Brissett is a viable Week 12 spot starter in that plus matchup.
The Indianapolis Star reports that Colts QB Jacoby Brissett took the "lion's share" of 1st-team snaps in Monday's practice and that HC Chuck Pagano expects him to be ready to start Sunday against the Titans. Brissett must still complete the league concussion protocol to be eligible. We'll keep an eye on that progress this week. The team will have Tuesday off but return to the practice field Wednesday.
Colts HC Chuck Pagano said Monday that QB Jacoby Brissett remains in the concussion protocol. It's unclear how much progress he's made 8 days removed from the head injury. We'll keep a close eye on his status throughout this week. Brissett will be on the Week 12 spot-start radar if he's able to play against the Titans on Sunday.
The Colts said after the game that QB Jacoby Brissett had developed concussion symptoms after their loss to the Steelers and entered the league concussion protocol. They also said Brissett got checked twice during the game for a concussion and passed each time. Fortunately for him and the Colts, the team gets a Week 11 bye.
The Colts on Monday ruled out QB Andrew Luck for Week 3. Same as last week. Considering Luck still hasn't returned to practice, Week 5 is looking like his earliest possible return date now. QB Jacoby Brissett will get another start this Sunday against the Browns. He was at least an upgrade over Scott Tolzien this past week, completing 20 of 37 passes for 216 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT.
The Colts will start QB Jacoby Brissett against the Cardinals on Sunday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It's not a surprising development given Scott Tolzien's horrid Week 1 against the Rams -- and previous lackluster play. Of course, Brissett just joined the team after the 4th set of preseason games and reportedly still split 1st-team reps with Tolzien in practice this week. The move can't hurt for the Colts' other skill guys. But Brissett is no more than a cheap DFS consideration for fantasy purposes this week. When Andrew Luck will return remains a mystery.
Colts HC Chuck Pagano ruled out QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) for Week 2 on Monday. No surprise here. The decision so early in the week is just confirmation that Luck isn't particularly close to a return. We'd consider Week 4 the best-case scenario at this point. Pagano wouldn't say whether Scott Tolzien or Jacoby Brissett will start at QB vs. the Cardinals on Sunday, but neither should be in your fantasy plans.
Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett (thumb) will get the start today against the Bills, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. QB Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) will be inactive. Brissett attempted just 19 passes in last week's win over the Texans. The Pats would probably like him at a similar number today. There's some rushing upside here, but Brissett is just a low-end QB2. Expect a heavy dose of RB LeGarrette Blount.
The Patriots will start QB Jimmy Garoppolo on Sunday against the Bills, according to Kyle Minihane of WEEI radio. That's no surprise given the "questionable" tags on both Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett (thumb) after both QBs practiced this week. It does put Garoppolo into play for DFS lineups in Week 4, though we'd expect another run-heavy offensive approach. This will be New England's last game before Tom Brady returns from suspension.
Patriots QBs Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) and Jacoby Brissett (thumb) are both listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Bills. Both were limited in practice all week. New England hasn’t added a QB, so 1 of these guys will play. Which one is anyone’s guess. Neither should be in Week 4 fantasy lineups, but Garoppolo would be better news for the Patriots’ pass-catchers.
Patriots QBs Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett split 1st-teams reps during Wednesday's practice, according to insider Ryan Hannable. Both guys threw passes -- a good sign for their Week 4 availability. Garoppolo will certainly get the nod for Sunday's game against the Bills if he receives medical clearance in time.
Patriots QBs Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) and Jacoby Brissett (thumb) both practiced on Tuesday. It looks like both have a shot to be ready for this weekend's game against the Bills. Garoppolo would get the nod if he's medically cleared and would be a boost to WR Julian Edelman, TE Rob Gronkowski and the rest of New England's pass-catchers.
Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett suffered ligament damage in his right thumb during Thursday night's win, according to insider Mike Petraglia. He's expected to need surgery, putting his Week 4 status in serious doubt. QB Tom Brady has 1 game left to serve on his suspension, while QB Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) didn't seem close to being able to play last night. New England will certainly sign a QB within the next few days. Julian Edelman would be their starter if they had a game today.
Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) is inactive, as expected, for tonight's game against the Texans. 3rd-round rookie QB Jacoby Brissett gets the start. Julian Edelman is New England's backup QB. Seriously.
Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) is officially doubtful for Thursday night's game against the Texans. New England tried to make it sound like he had a shot to play, but that was never realistic. Rookie Jacoby Brissett will get the start and figures to do a lot of handing off to RB LeGarrette Blount.
Patriots HC Bill Belichick suggested that QB Jimmy Garoppolo could be a game-time decision for Thursday night's meeting with the Texans. “Could be, sure,” Belichick said. “It would depend on the situation. It would depend on a lot of things. It’s possible. Sure.” Garoppolo's injury is to his throwing shoulder, so it's tough to imagine his playing and being effective 4 days after getting hurt. This is probably a case of the Patriots being the Patriots. We're still expecting QB Jacoby Brissett to start on Thursday, but we'll continue to monitor the situation.
The Patriots selected QB Jacoby Brissett with the 91st pick of the 2016 NFL Draft. He becomes the 3rd QB drafted by New England in the past 6 years. Ryan Mallett attempted 4 passes for the Pats, while Jimmy Garoppolo has chucked it 31 times through his first 2 seasons. Brissett started his college career at Florida before transferring to North Carolina State, where he completed 59.9% of his passes with 43 TDs and 11 INTs. He possesses prototypical size at 6'4, 231 pounds and has an NFL-caliber arm. Brissett will sit behind Garoppolo and, of course, Tom Brady this season. But he could eventually push Garoppolo for the right to be Brady's heir apparent.
