Jeremy Hill Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

With a healthy RB Giovani Bernard and a now-established RB Jeremy Hill in the backfield, the Bengals boast an enviable NFL backfield -- and potential for fantasy football headaches. Hill fed into that a bit this week, telling ESPN.com about the rushing workload: "Obviously there’s going to be a balanced attack. I don’t think he’s got to wear either one of us out, so that way we can make it through all 16 games for a playoff push.” That might make some fantasy drafters start to sweat, and I does speak to the biggest risk factor to Hill's 2015 outlook. But don't take Hill's mention of "balance" to mean they'll be splitting work in half. In 7 games after his return from injury last year (including the playoffs), Bernard garnered just 27.7% of the team's rushing attempts. That share might grow a bit over a full healthy season, but Hill showed more than enough to claim lead rushing duties going forward. Having Bernard to spell him could help to keep the 2nd-year back fresher for late-season contests as well -- similar to how the Packers preserved RB Eddie Lacy last year. Hill belongs among the 1st 18 picks in 2015 fantasy football drafts.

Bengals WR A.J. Green (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's Wild Card game against the Colts.  It's obviously a significant loss, but Cincy needed to go run-heavy to win this game anyway.  Getting Jeremy Hill and Gio Bernard a combined 30+ carries will give the Bengals their best chance of leaving Indy with a win.

Bengals OC Hue Jackson wasn't revealing much to reporters Wednesday, but he intimated that he just might favor going with a lead back the rest of the way. "That's what I'm kind of used to," Jackson said, per ESPN.com. "I'm used to having one guy kind of dominate some carries because, in order for backs to be really good, they've got to get lathered up to play. You've got to get a feel for the game." Jackson said "we'll let it play itself out," but you'd have to figure that Hill would be the guy if they actually plan to feature a single back. In the 3 games since Gio Bernard returned from injury, Hill has averaged 4.4 yards per carry to Bernard's 3.4. We can't necessarily count on Hill taking over lead-back duties this week, but Jackson's comments at least make him a bit more intriguing as an upside fantasy play.

Bengals RB Gio Bernard (hip) is active for today’s game against the Texans. It’s unclear exactly how the touches will be divvied in Cincy’s backfield. We’re betting on Jeremy Hill leading the way in carries but Bernard still getting 12-15 total touches. It makes him a lower-end RB2 against a mediocre Texans run defense.

Bengals RB Gio Bernard (hip) practiced all week and is probable for Sunday’s game against the Texans. OC Hue Jackson hinted earlier in the week that Bernard’s workload will be monitored in his 1st action since Week 8. That’ll be easier to do with RB Jeremy Hill playing so well. We’re expecting Hill to lead the team in carries, but Bernard should still see 12-15 total touches.

Bengals OC Hue Jackson declined to name a starting RB for this weekend's game against the Texans.  It's notable that he didn't hand the title back to Gio Bernard.  In fact, Jackson suggested that Bernard's workload will be scaled back, at least this week. "I think with Gio just coming back, it's going to be hard for me to just say let's just thrust him in there again and let him go again,” Jackson said. “I think we've got to work him back into our process and how we do things. What will determine that is just how fast and how we think he is ready to go.”  Hill seems like the best bet to lead the Cincinnati backfield in carries this Sunday.  Bernard should also be heavily involved, though, and could still see around 15 total touches.  Click here to see where both RBs sit in our Week 12 Rankings.

Bengals RB Gio Bernard (hip) practiced on Wednesday for the 1st time since going down in Week 8.  It's confirmation that he's on track to play against the Texans this weekend.  He won't return as the feature back -- Jeremy Hill has simply played too well to be phased out -- but Bernard is still a decent bet for around 15 total touches.  That makes him an RB2 against Houston's 19th-ranked RB defense.

Bengals insider Geoff Hobson expects RB Gio Bernard (hip) back for Week 12.  Bernard didn't practice at all last week but was spotted warming up prior to Sunday's game against the Saints.  Bernard figures to return to a committee backfield alongside Jeremy Hill.  The rookie has racked up 361 yards on 63 carries (5.7 YPC) with Bernard sidelined the past 3 games.  We'll see exactly how the workload shakes out with both guys in the lineup, but Bernard and Hill should both be considered RB2s against the Texans this coming weekend.

Bengals RB Gio Bernard (hip) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Saints. He’s yet to resume practicing and is no lock to return for Week 12. RB Jeremy Hill gets another start this weekend. The rookie is a safe bet for at least 15 touches, with the potential for 20+ if Cincinnati keeps it close. Hill is a strong RB2.

Bengals RB Gio Bernard (hip) remained sidelined on Thursday.  He's a long shot to play against the Saints this weekend and should be considered out indefinitely.  Rookie Jeremy Hill should be in Week 11 fantasy lineups as a solid RB2.

Bengals RB Gio Bernard (hip) will not practice on Wednesday.  We still don't have a definitive timetable for his return, but this obviously doesn't bode well for his Week 11 outlook.  For now, count on RB Jeremy Hill getting against start against New Orleans on Sunday.  The Saints have been better against the run lately, but Hill will still be a solid RB2 in fantasy.

Bengals RB Gio Bernard (hip) won't play against the Browns tonight and "could miss more time," according to NFL Network's Albert Breer.  This hip injury has turned out to be more serious than originally thought.  Breer adds that "coaches won't be going away from Jeremy Hill" even when Bernard returns.  The rookie impressed in his starting debut last week and should have another big outing tonight.  We could be looking at something close to a 50-50 split when Bernard gets healthy.

Bengals RB Gio Bernard (hip) is listed as doubtful for Thursday's night game against the Browns.  He didn't practice all week and won't play.  Bernard will has another 11 days to get ready for Week 11 against the Saints.  We're tentatively expecting him to be back for that one.  In the meantime, RB Jeremy Hill is a good bet for another 20+ touches in tomorrow night's plus matchup.  The rookie sits 8th in our Week 10 RB Rankings.

Bengals RB Gio Bernard (hip) remained sidelined on Tuesday.  He's a long shot to play against the Browns on Thursday night.  That'll mean another feature-back workload for RB Jeremy Hill vs. a Cleveland defense allowing 4.6 yards per carry to RBs.  The rookie is a legit RB1 for Week 10.

The Bengals held a light practice Monday as they prepare to face the Browns on Thursday. RB Giovani Bernard did not participate after missing Sunday's win with hip and clavicle injuries. ESPN.com Bengals writer posits that "it appears" Bernard is headed for a "doubtful" designation this week. We'll certainly keep an eye on his status leading up to the game. If Bernard sits again, rookie RB Jeremy Hill becomes a must-start against a weak Browns run D.

Bengals RB Jeremy Hill injured his left knee in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game.  He's considered questionable to return.  With Gio Bernard inactive, Cincinnati is down to Cedric Peerman and Rex Burkhead at RB.

Update: Hill returned for the 2nd half.

Bengals RB Gio Bernard (hip) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Jaguars. He didn’t practice at all this week and won’t be helped in Week 10 by the fact that Cincinnati plays on Thursday night. Consider him questionable for that one. RB Jeremy Hill will draw his 1st career start against the Jaguars this weekend. The rookie has struggled to 2.6 yards per carry over his last 4 games. And Jacksonville’s run defense is no pushover. But Hill is a good bet for around 20 touches, making him a strong fantasy play.

Bengals RB Gio Bernard (hip) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday.  "You have to figure he's going to be out," insider Geoff Hobson tweeted.  We'll have another update on Bernard tomorrow, but owners should plan on being without him for Week 9.  Sans Bernard, Cincinnati's backfield would belong to Jeremy Hill.  The rookie is averaging just 3.9 yards per carry this season but is a talented runner who can also contribute in the passing game.  A virtual lock for 15 touches with a chance at 20+, Hill would be a strong RB2 against the Jaguars.

Bengals RB Gio Bernard (hip) did not practice on Wednesday.  He never returned to last week's game after the early-4th-quarter injury, and there's been no update for the team since.  The general belief among the media is that it's not a serious injury, but Bernard isn't a lock to play against the Jaguars this Sunday.  RB Jeremy Hill could see 20+ touches if Bernard is out.  Check back tomorrow for another update.

Bengals RB Gio Bernard injured his hip in the 2nd half of Sunday's game against the Ravens.  Rookie Jeremy Hill will operate as Cincy's lead back as long as Bernard is sidelined.
