The Giants have ruled out LBs B.J. Goodson (ankle), Keenan Robinson (quad) and Devon Kennard (quad) for Sunday's game against the 49ers. LB Jonathan Casillas (neck) and DE Olivier Vernon (ankle) are questionable. Both players put in limited practices all week after missing multiple games. Casillas said early in the week that he expected to play. We'll update their statuses Sunday afternoon.

The Giants have ruled DE Olivier Vernon (ankle) and MLB B.J. Goodson (ankle) out for Sunday's game against the Rams. Goodson has seen his playing time dip anyway with the return of Keenan Robinson and should be dropped from most IDP rosters. The Giants team D is not in play for most fantasy situations this week either.

Giants MLB B.J. Goodson left Sunday's loss to the Seahawks early with a left ankle injury. The New York Daily News reports that he had a walking boot and crutches as he left the stadium. HC Ben McAdoo offered no further details of the injury after the game. The Giants get a Week 8 bye, so we'll see if the injury costs Goodson any further time. LB Keenan Robinson picked up extra snaps against Seattle.

Giants DE Olivier Vernon (ankle) is inactive for today's game against the Chargers. That's probably a positive move for his IDP owners after Vernon left each of the past 2 contests because of the bothersome ankle. DE Jason Pierre-Paul (knee, shoulder) is active, however. The shoulder was reportedly the bigger issue, but JPP told reporters during the week that he'd play.

Giants DEs Olivier Vernon (ankle) and Jason Pierre-Paul (shoulder) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Chargers. JPP told reporters earlier this week that he's definitely play. He put in a limited practice Friday after missing the previous 2 days. Vernon missed practice all week and looks quite risky to finish the game even if he starts. Use Pierre-Paul if he's active, but try to avoid Vernon. We'll update both Sunday morning.

Giants DE Olivier Vernon is questionable for Sunday's game against the Bucs with the ankle injury he suffered in last week's loss to the Eagles. We'll check his status Sunday afternoon. The 4:05 ET kickoff makes Vernon risky to wait for in IDP lineups.

Despite taking part in individual drills at the beginning of practice Wednesday, Giants DE Olivier Vernon was ultimately listed as a non-participant for the workout. The fact that he was doing anything is encouraging a few days after he hurt his left ankle at Philly. But the "did not practice" designation shows that we'll need to wait to find out whether Vernon will be available for IDP lineups in Week 4.

NJ.com's Dan Duggan reports that Giants MLB B.J. Goodson and DE Olivier Vernon participated in practice Wednesday. Goodson missed practice all last week -- and then the game -- after a shin injury cost him the Week 2 loss to Detroit. Vernon hurt his left ankle in Sunday's loss at Philly but appears to be on track to play in Week 4. Both will be options for IDP lineups if they stay active.

Giants DE Olivier Vernon suffered an ankle sprain in Sunday's loss to the Eagles. He attempted to play through it for a while but eventually had to limp off the field and did not return. USA Today reports that HC Ben McAdoo said afterward he didn't know the severity. We'll keep an eye out for updates.

The Giants have ruled MLB B.J. Goodson out for Sunday's game against the Eagles with the shin injury that also cost him Week 2. We'll see how playing time goes in his absence. Rookie Calvin Munson started and played every defensive snap last Monday night. But veteran LB Keenan Robinson returned to practice this week after starting the year sidelined by concussion issues. Elsewhere on the Giants defense, top CB Janoris Jenkins (ankle) is questionable. That's bigger news for Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery than for IDP owners. Missing Jenkins would significantly improve Jeffery's fantasy outlook.

The Giants have ruled MLB B.J. Goodson (shin) and CB Janoris Jenkins (hand, ankle) out for Monday night's game against the Lions. Rookie Calvin Munson will start in Goodson's spot. Jenkins' absence is good news for any fantasy owner that has a Lions WR in a lineup. It's a slight ding to the upside of the Giants' team D but not worth pivoting to the Lions' D, in case you're considering that.

NJ.com reports that the Giants expect to start rookie Calvin Munson to start at MLB in place of B.J. Goodson against the Lions on Monday night. Goodson is officially questionable with a shin injury sustained in Friday's practice. We'll see about his status for Week 3. Jonathan Casillas is a better IDP bet than Munson if you're needing a fill-in for Goodson

The Giants on Sunday added CB Janoris Jenkins to the injury report with hand and ankle issues. He's now questionable for Monday night's game against the Lions. Jenkins participated in Thursday and Friday practices but was projected as a limited participant for Saturday's walkthrough. He's not much of an IDP option, but his absence would help the outlook for Lions WRs.

The Giants added LB B.J. Goodson to the injury report Saturday after he missed the week's final practice with a shin injury. HC Ben McAdoo said the issue arose during Friday's workout and that they pulled him off the field as it got sore, according to the New York Daily News. He's listed as questionable for the Monday night game against the Lions. An active Goodson would be worth waiting for, after the new starter delivered 18 tackles against Dallas in the opener. You'll need an insurance LB from the Monday night game if you want to wait, though. Assuming Lions MLB Jarrad Davis is taken, your best options would be Giants OLB Jonathan Casillas and Lions OLB Tahir Whitehead. In a flex spot, Lions safeties Tavon Wilson and Glover Guin, Giants CB Eli Apple and Giants S Darian Thompson follow as potential fill-ins.

Giants DC Steve Spagnuolo says he has been pleased with MLB B.J. Goodson's play in coverage, according to NJ.com's James Kratch. "Very good. He runs real well," Spagnuolo said when asked about Goodson's coverage. "He’s embraced the whole thing, being a linebacker and taking command. I love the look in his eye." The DC further indicated that Goodson will stay on the field in sub packages, which he has been doing this summer. That's a big help to Goodson's IDP outlook, which looks strongest among Giants LBs -- and stronger than Giants LBs have looked for at least several years. He's an upside target late in fantasy football drafts who has taken a giant leap up our IDP rankings with more role certainty.

The Giants have agreed to a 4-year contract with DE Jason Pierre-Paul, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports. That should lock in the 28-year-old with the team into his 30s -- and perhaps for the length of his career. Pierre-Paul was scoring like a top-5 fantasy D-lineman once again last year before hitting IR with a sports hernia in December. Adam Schefter reports that his new deal includes $54 million and averages $17 million annually. That would make it very similar to the contract DE Olivier Vernon signed with the Giants last offseason -- though with $1.5 million more guaranteed over 1 fewer season. The team obviously believes that JPP will continue to produce, and we see no reason to dislike him heading into 2017 fantasy football drafts.

ESPN reports that the Giants will use their franchise tag on DE Jason Pierre-Paul. It's not a surprising move given JPP's continued studly performance before injury ended his 2016 prematurely. Durability has long been his primary issue, but Pierre-Paul returned to dominance last season even with his fireworks-altered hand. He also just turned 28 in January. JPP has reportedly said he won't play on a 1-year deal. The tag gives the 2 sides until July 15 to reach a longer-term agreement. Barring a summer holdout, you should expect Pierre-Paul to rank among our top 5 IDP linemen come preseason

Giants CB Janoris Jenkins (back) is active for today's game against Washington. He returns after missing last week's loss to Philly, but we'd be surprised if he plays the whole way in a game the Giants don't need.

ESPN's Jordan Ranaan reports that signals point to the Giants playing their starters in Sunday's regular-season finale that can't change their playoff position either way. Ranaan pointed to HC Ben McAdoo not addressing the playoffs until the end of practice, when he conveyed the message, "Be ascending going into the playoffs." Several players also said they expected the 1st-stringers to be in there. It's worth noting that the offense has yet to get on a roll and could look to build momentum before the Wild Card round. Of course, none of us will know for sure what the team will do with its top guys until we see it play out Sunday. That risk is what makes Week 17 so unsavory for many fantasy football leagues.
