The Buccaneers have placed MLB Devin White and OLB Shaq Barrett on the COVID list. That obviously knocks them out for Sunday's game against the Falcons -- 2 big losses for a defense that allowed Atlanta 27 points and 332 passing yards 2 weeks ago. The team defense takes a step back as a fantasy option with the losses as well. White (with 9) and Barrett (8) rank 2nd and 3rd on the team in sacks for the year. It's not yet clear whether either player tested positive, which would threaten their availability for next week's playoff opener. We'll keep an eye on that. Kevin Minter looks like the White replacement, with Anthony Nelson the next guy up on the edge.

Update: NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that White tested positive, so expect him to miss the playoff opener as well. Barrett is close contact, so he'll be back for that game as long as he continues to test negative.

Buccaneers HC Bruce Arians confirmed on Sirius XM NFL Radio Wednesday that he'll be "playing everybody" and "playing to win" in Sunday's game against the Falcons. He said they want to get to 11-5 and take the 5th seed rather than drop to the 6th with a loss. It's nice to hear such confirmation if you're planning to play Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Mike Evans or any other Buc in Week 17 fantasy.

Buccaneers CB Carlton Davis (groin) is doubtful for Saturday's game against the Lions. That should mean a playing-time boost for CB Jamel Dean, though he played just 78% of the snaps in a Week 15 return from his own groin injury. Dean and Sean Murphy-Bunting are in play for IDP use, but neither makes for a strong fantasy option.

Buccaneers CB Carlton Davis left Sunday's win over the Falcons early with a groin injury. We'll see about his status heading into Saturday's game against the Lions. The shortened turnaround certainly won't help.

The Buccaneers have ruled CB Jamel Dean (concussion) out for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. That leaves Carlton Davis, Sean Murphy-Bunting and Ross Cockrell as Tampa's top 3 corners.

Buccaneers CB Carlton Davis (knee) is active for today's game against the Panthers. He was questionable after missing practice Thursday but returned to a limited Friday workout. There's some risk of aggravating the knee, but Davis also carries significant tackle upside vs. Carolina's outside WRs.

Buccaneers CB Carlton Davis (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers. After missing Thursday's practice, he returned for a limited Friday workout. We'll check Davis' status Sunday morning.

Buccaneers CB Carlton Davis (abdomen) is active for today's game against the Packers. He's a solid option for IDP lineups.

Buccaneers CB Carlton Davis (abdomen) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Packers. Davis missed practice Wednesday before putting in limited workouts the next 2 days. We'll check his status Sunday.

Buccaneers CB Sean Murphy-Bunting left Sunday's win over the Broncos with a hamstring injury and did not return. CB Jamel Dean saw a playing-time boost in Murphy-Bunting's absence and would likely see more snaps if his teammate remains out for Week 4. We'll see about Murphy-Bunting's status this week.

The Buccaneers picked Minnesota S Antoine Winfield Jr. in the 2nd round of the NFL Draft. Winfield closed out his Gophers career with a big stat line that included 83 tackles and 7 INTs. He presents the versatility to play either safety role and should immediately claim a starting job at a weak spot for the Bucs. We'll see whether Justin Evans can get back to full health from the foot issue that cost him last year and reclaim a spot alongside him. Give Winfield a look later in your dynasty rookie draft.

The Buccaneers have agreed to a 2-year, $27 million deal with EDGE Jason Pierre-Paul, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Pierre-Paul missed the first 6 games last season because of a neck injury suffered in an offseason car accident. But he still managed 8.5 sacks in the remaining 10 contests. JPP turned 31 in January but clearly still got starter money from the Bucs.

The Buccaneers have applied the franchise tag to OLB Shaq Barrett. Contract talks have reportedly gone positively this offseason, so Barrett always appeared headed back to the team that helped him break out in 2019. Barrett blew up for 19.5 sacks last season after totaling 14 over his previous 5 campaigns. Barrett turned 27 in mid-November.

Buccaneers CB Carlton Davis (ankle) is active for today's game against the Texans. He's a low-level IDP option at best.

Buccaneers MLB Devin White (illness) is active today against the Lions. He was a late addition to the injury report because of the illness but should be good to go.

The Buccaneers added MLB Devin White to the injury report Saturday, listing him as questionable with an illness. We’ll check his status Sunday morning

Buccaneers CB Jamel Dean (shoulder) is active for today's game against the Colts. He left last week's game in the 1st quarter but made it back to full practices during the week. Dean carries upside as a CB in IDP lineups. Slot CB M.J. Stewart (knee) is also active after missing the past 3 games and 5 of the past 6. He has likely been replaced in the starting lineup by rookie Sean Murphy-Bunting moving inside -- with Dean starting outside opposite Carlton Davis. We'll seek confirmation on that in today's game.
