The Lions on Thursday placed K Austin Seibert on the COVID list. It's not yet clear whether he tested positive or was an unvaccinated close contact. Being just 3 days away from Sunday's clash with the Ravens, though, makes him unlikely to be ready for that game. Expect Detroit to elevate K Ryan Santoso from the practice squad.

The Texans placed QB Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) on IR. He'll miss at least the next 3 games -- although the Houston Chronicle reported yesterday that Taylor could miss 4. We're about to get an extended look at 3rd-round rookie QB Davis Mills.

Texans QB Tyrod Taylor "could miss 4 weeks" with his hamstring injury, according to the Houston Chronicle. It's the 1st timetable we've seen. It's an unfortunate break for Taylor, who was playing really good ball before going down. QB Davis Mills didn't look ready in relief this past Sunday, completing just 8 of 18 passes for 102 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. Now he has a short week to prepare for his 1st start against the Panthers on Thursday night.

Texans QB Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) won't play against the Panthers on Thursday night, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Taylor is getting an MRI on that hamstring on Monday but won't be ready on the short turnaround. That puts QB Davis Mills in line to make his 1st start. The rookie went 8-of-18 for 102 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT in today's loss to the Browns.

Seahawks CB D.J. Reed (calf) is active for today’s game against the Titans. Use him as you had planned in IDP lineups.

Texans QB Tyrod Taylor hurt his hamstring early in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Browns and was quickly ruled out for the day. Rookie QB Davis Mills will take over for Houston.

Seahawks CB D.J. Reed is questionable for Sunday's game against the Titans. He left Friday's practice early with a foot injury. We'll see about his status come Sunday afternoon.

Vikings TE Tyler Conklin (hamstring) isn’t listed on the final injury report after getting in full practices on Thursday and Friday. He should be a full-go for this weekend’s opener vs. the Bengals. You should be able to do better in season-long leagues, but Conklin is in play as a cheap DFS option.

Vikings TE Tyler Conklin (hamstring) was upgraded to full participation in Thursday's practice. He'll be out there for this weekend's opener vs. the Bengals and should operate as Minnesota's lead TE.

Vikings TE Tyler Conklin (hamstring) was limited in Wednesday's practice. He's seemingly on track to play against the Bengals this weekend, but we'll get another update on his status tomorrow.

The Lions signed K Austin Seibert. It looks like he'll open the season as the starter after Detroit cut Ks Zane Gonzalez and Randy Bullock on Tuesday. Seibert is a weak fantasy option on what figures to be 1 of the league's lowest-scoring offenses.

The Packers are keeping LT David Bakhtiari on the PUP list to begin the regular season, as he continues to work back from a late-2020 ACL tear. We're not downgrading QB Aaron Rodgers or RB Aaron Jones on this news, but it'll be an area to watch early in the year. The move means Bakhtiari will miss at least the 1st 6 weeks.

Vikings TE Tyler Conklin (hamstring) returned to practice on Monday, according to beat writer Chris Tomasson. Conklin missed 2 weeks with the hamstring injury. But, barring a setback, he's set to open the season as Minnesota's lead TE. We're still waiting to hear how long TE Irv Smith will be out.

Vikings HC Mike Zimmer expects TE Tyler Conklin to return to practice next week. He's been sidelined since injuring his hamstring on August 16. With TE Irv Smith out at least for the start of the season -- and potentially much longer -- Conklin is atop Minnesota's depth chart. We'll see if the Vikings add to the position.

The Cowboys on Wednesday activated K Greg Zuerlein from the PUP list. He had been out recovering from offseason back surgery but should be good to go for the regular season now.

Jets DE Carl Lawson confirmed Thursday afternoon that he tore his left Achilles' tendon. That obviously means he'll miss this season, his 1st with the Jets after arriving in free agency. We'll see about Lawson next offseason, heading into his age-27 campaign. Expect Vinny Curry and John Franklin-Myers to run as the top 2 edge players for the Jets now.

Jets DE Carl Lawson left the practice field on a cart Thursday after suffering a left leg injury, according to Connor Hughes of The Athletic. Hughes reports that "the entire field was silent when Lawson went down." That doesn't sound good for the 26-year-old big-money free-agent addition. We'll watch for a diagnosis. For now, don't draft Lawson in your IDP league.

Update: NFL Network is reporting that Lawson is getting an MRI on his left Achilles' tendon and that he felt a "pop" when he went down. We're removing him from the rankings for now, as we await a firm diagnosis.

The Cowboys have agreed to a deal with free-agent K Lirim Hajrullahu, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. The former CFL kicker went to training camp with the Rams last summer but didn't make the regular-season roster and has yet to kick in a regular-season NFL game. He joined the Panthers this offseason but got cut in March. The addition is significant because Dallas K Greg Zuerlein has yet to come off the PUP list following offseason back surgery. We'll have to keep an eye on Zuerlein as we get into the meat of fantasy football draft season. If you're drafting this week, it's probably best to pass on the veteran kicker.

Vikings TE Tyler Conklin left practice Monday with a hamstring injury. Beat writer Ben Goessling tweeted Tuesday that it’s a “mild” issue for the 4th-year TE. Certainly not the worst-case scenario. Conklin doesn’t profile as a standalone fantasy option, but his progress (and presence) might take some shine off Irv Smith’s ultimate upside. HC Mike Zimmer talked up a bigger role for Conklin in June.

The Jets have activated DT Quinnen Williams off the PUP. Williams opened training camp still working back from his offseason foot fracture. There's still time for him to round into shape before the Sept. 12 opener. We'll keep an eye out for any recurring or compensatory issues with Williams from here.
