What You Need to Know:

  • Woods’ 2021 production alongside new Rams QB Matt Stafford was a major surprise. In 9 games, the veteran mustered only 45-556-4 on 69 targets.
  • Woods posted 3 WR1 lines, with 1 boosted by a rushing score.
  • He also finished with fewer than 50 yards 5 times in an offense that was headlined by Cooper Kupp.
  • Woods’ 12.4 yards per catch and 4.6 yards after catch per reception was right in line with career averages.
  • Woods’ season ended abruptly following a November ACL tear. He’d missed only 1 game from 2018-2020.
  • The Rams dealt Woods to the Titans in March. He’s set to earn a sizable $10 million base salary in ’22.
  • The Titans moved on from Julio Jones in free agency and traded away A.J. Brown, leaving behind 158 targets.
  • Tennessee added WR Treylon Burks in Round 1. He brings plus size and run-after-catch ability, but his separate skills are a question.
  • The Titans don’t have any proven WR depth beyond Woods.
  • Woods is expected to be ready for Week 1. A workout video from May appeared to show him right on schedule.
  • We’ll see how he jives with Ryan Tannehill, but it’s at least slightly concerning that the QB’s play fell off a bit last season.
  • Tannehill’s PFF passing grade of 81.6, while solid, dipped from his previous 2 years in Tennessee (86.0 and 87.4). He's a clear downgrade from Stafford.
  • Titans reporter Jim Wyatt writes that “it’s clear [Robert] Woods is feeling better each day, and he’s showing up more and more.”

Draft Sharks Bottom Line:

Woods’ puzzling 2021 ended abruptly with a mid-season ACL tear. Now, he’ll adjust to catching passes from a 3rd different QB in as many years.

Consider the 30-year-old a cheap source of targets; Tennessee simply doesn’t have proven pass-catching depth. Woods is a long-shot for anything more than WR3 value, though.

Robert Woods ready for start of camp

Titans WR Robert Woods avoided the PUP list to open training camp. He's about 8-and-a-half months removed from tearing his ACL and isn't even wearing a brace on the surgically repaired knee. It looks like Woods will be close to 100% by the time Week 1 rolls around.

Titans WR Robert Woods is happy with his recovery so far from last November's torn ACL. "I actually feel like they're kind of holding me back a little bit," Woods said. "I am trying to get back as well as I can, just doing everything (trainer) Todd Toriscelli has me doing, trying to stay focused and be patient with it. Right now I feel really, really good, getting going, being able to do some things." It sounds like Woods is on track to be ready for Week 1, which will be about 10 months after his knee injury.

In a video posted to Instagram, Titans WR Robert Woods appears to be moving around without issue. In the minute-long clip, the 30-year-old can be seen going through footwork drills and sprints at what looks close to full speed. Woods tore his ACL in mid-November, so he’ll be about 10 months removed from the injury come Week 1. We’ll track his rehab all summer long.

Rams WR Robert Woods resumed jogging this week as he works through his recovery from a November 12 ACL tear. “It’s going really well,” Woods said from the Super Bowl. “Initially, you hear ACL injury and you think it’s over. Nah. Being able to recover from the surgery and be able to have a great rehab and team to get me back right, I’m progressing really well." Woods is tentatively expected to be cleared for spring minicamp. We'll continue to track his progress.
