        Jaylen Warren Active

Steelers RB Jaylen Warren is active for tonight's game vs. the Dolphins. He was added to the injury report as questionable with an illness this morning. It adds a little risk to his Week 15 profile, but we're ultimately expecting Warren to play his usual role tonight.

Jaylen Warren Will Play Week 12

Steelers RB Jaylen Warren (ankle) is not listed on the final injury report for this weekend’s game vs. the Bears. He went from no practice on Wednesday to limited on Thursday to full participation on Friday. It all suggests that the ankle won’t be a major issue in Sunday’s game. We're projecting Warren to lead the backfield vs. Chicago, but it would not be surprising to see RB Kenneth Gainwell more involved after his big Week 11.

Jaylen Warren Expected to Play on Sunday Against the Bears

Steelers RB Jaylen Warren left Sunday's game against the Bengals briefly with an ankle injury. Despite returning, his availability for this week against the Bears was in jeopardy. HC Mike Tomlin said that the injury will limit him in early portions of practice this week, but Warren is expected to be available for the game soon. He should start the game, with RB Kenneth Gainwell remaining the No. 2 option.

        Jaylen Warren Hurts Left Ankle

Steelers RB Jaylen Warren injured his left ankle in the third quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Bengals. He briefly returned but didn't get another touch the rest of the way. RB Kenneth Gainwell wound up having a big day in the passing game, catching seven of eight targets for 81 yards and two scores. He mustered just 24 yards on nine carries. RB Kaleb Johnson mixed in for 15 yards on five carries. We'll look for more on Warren's injury. His absence would put Gainwell in the RB2 mix.

Jaylen Warren Ready For Week 6

Steelers RB Jaylen Warren (knee) put in a full week of practice and isn’t listed on the final injury report for Sunday’s game vs. the Browns. Warren got workhorse usage when we last saw him in Week 3, but RB Kenneth Gainwell might have earned a bigger role with his impressive Week 4. We’ll look for any reports on what the backfield might look like this weekend. For now, we’re treating Warren as a low-end RB2 and Gainwell a RB3 or Flex play.

Kenneth Gainwell Goes Off With Jaylen Warren Out

Steelers RB Kenneth Gainwell took over the starting RB duties with Jaylen Warren out this week with a calf injury. Gainwell proved effective with a 19-99-2 rushing stat line while also catching all six of his targets for 35 yards. He was surprisingly efficient averaging 5.2 yards per carry, carving up the Vikings defense.

        Jaylen Warren INACTIVE

Steelers RB Jaylen Warren (knee) is inactive for this morning’s game vs. the Vikings in Dublin. It’s a surprise after he got in three limited practices this week and was expected to play. Warren’s absence leaves Kenneth Gainwell, Kaleb Johnson, and Trey Sermon in Pittsburgh’s backfield. Pittsburgh has not trusted Johnson with many snaps so far, while Sermon was just elevated from the practice squad. That leaves Gainwell as the favorite to operate as lead back. He’s a viable RB3 or Flex play in Week 4 fantasy lineups. We'll see if Johnson can build any momentum in this one. He remains worth stashing in fantasy leagues of 12+ teams.

Update: ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Warren "did not feel right after Saturday’s practice and the Steelers decided to hold him out today." NFL Network's Ian Rapoport adds that Warren suffered this knee injury in practice this week. He gets a well-timed Week 5 bye. We'll see if he can make it back for Week 6.

Steelers Secure a Potential Starter in Kaleb Johnson

The Steelers selected Iowa RB Kaleb Johnson in Round 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft. Johnson led Iowa in rushing as a true freshman in 2022, showing his grinding skills between the tackles. He ran 151 times for 779 yards and six TDs. After an ankle injury slowed him down in 2023, he enjoyed an exceptional year in 2024 on a struggling Iowa offense. His great vision and contact balance led to 240 rushes for 1,537 yards and 21 TDs on the ground. Johnson is the typical Hawkeye RB, consistently churning his feet to pick up additional yardage. He also leads the class in rush yards over expected per attempt for his career, picking up an additional yard per rush over expected. Johnson could eventually become a three-down NFL back if he can develop as a pass catcher. He’s simply not a burner, and that predictably showed up at the NFL Combine with his 4.57 forty time.

        Jaylen Warren Active

Steelers RB Jaylen Warren (back) is active for today’s game vs. the Ravens. He popped up on the injury report on Thursday but got in a limited practice on Friday. The back injury adds risk to a guy who already looked like just a RB3 or Flex play in this matchup.

Jaylen Warren On Track To Play Week 11

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and ESPN's Adam Schefter report that Steelers RB Jaylen Warren (back) is expected to play vs. the Ravens today. He was added to the injury report and did not practice on Thursday but returned to a limited practice on Friday. Pittsburgh elevated RB Jonathan Ward from the practice squad on Saturday, but that's "considered a precaution," Rapoport adds. It sounds like Warren just needs to pass pre-game tests to play today. The back injury adds risk to what was already a tough rushing matchup. But Warren could be busier than usual in the passing game. The Ravens have allowed the sixth most catches to RBs this season.

Cordarrelle Patterson Will Play Week 10

Steelers RB Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) put in a full week of practice and is off the final injury report. He’ll play vs. the Commanders on Sunday for the first time since Week 4. Patterson averaged 4.0 carries and 1.8 targets over the first four games of the season. He’s not a fantasy option but could put a slight dent in RBs Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren’s volume.

Jaylen Warren has No Injury Designation for Week 6

Steelers RB Jaylen Warren was upgraded today and now has no injury designation for Week 6 against the Raiders. Warren has dealt with hamstring and knee injuries during the offseason and season so far. He could see a prominent role in the Steelers' run game with Najee Harris being ineffective so far this year.

Jaylen Warren Out For Week 4

Steelers RB Jaylen Warren (knee) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Colts. We still don’t have any details on his injury or a timeline for his return. Warren’s absence should leave RB Najee Harris in a workhorse role this weekend. RB Cordarrelle Patterson figures to mix in for a handful of touches as the No. 2.
