Texans QB Deshaun Watson returned to practice Monday morning. He had opened camp working out with the team but then sat out the next 5 days with what the team reported was a foot injury. This comes a few days after FOX's Jay Glazer reported that Houston isn't returning calls from potential trade partners. That paired with Watson's return to the field just might indicate that no deal is imminent. Of course, there are a lot of unknowns in play here, and the Texans aren't giving anything away. Watson remains a risk/reward pick in the later rounds of all draft formats for now.
Insider Albert Breer's "guess" is that the NFL's appeal of Deshaun Watson's suspension will result in a 10- or 12-game suspension. "I think it’s fair to guess that [Peter C.] Harvey will extend [the suspension]," Breer writes. "I don’t think the league would go to the trouble of filing the appeal if there weren’t real plans to extend the suspension." Breer believes we'll get a decision from Harvey by August 19.
Per multiple reports, the NFL is appealing Browns QB Deshaun Watson’s 6-game suspension. Roger Goodell will determine who’ll hear the appeal. Stay tuned.
UPDATE: According to insider Jeff Darlington, the league is "appealing for an indefinite suspension that would be a minimum of one year."
The NFL -- via Judge Sue Robinson -- has suspended Browns QB Deshaun Watson for the 1st 6 games of the season for violating the personal-conduct policy. The NFLPA has said it would not challenge her ruling. The league has 3 days to file an appeal. This is obviously a positive outcome for the fantasy football outlook of Watson and the Browns offense. Expect Jacoby Brissett to start the 1st 6 contests.
Multiple outlets report that Sue Robinson is expected to issue her ruling on league discipline for Browns QB Deshaun Watson on Monday. The NFLPA has announced that it will not appeal the decision. Now we just wait to find the specific number of games.
Citing a source close to the situation, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk writes that Deshaun Watson’s “currently expected range" of suspension is 2-8 games. Florio adds that it “remains to be seen” if the league would file an appeal in that situation. Fortunately, we should get a ruling from Judge Sue L. Robinson soon -- possibly around the start of training camp. Stay tuned.
