Update: NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that it's a torn Achilles' tendon for Robinson. That not only ends his season but potentially challenges his start to 2022. We'll see how he progresses through the offseason.

Jaguars HC Doug Pederson said Thursday that the "expectation" is that RB James Robinson will be ready for Week 1. That was implied when Jacksonville left Robinson off the PUP list to open training camp. Still, it'd be an impressively quick recovery from a guy who tore his Achilles on December 26. Of course, it remains to be seen how much work Robinson is able to handle and how effective he'll be out of the gate. We're not overly interested in him as a draft target. But Robinson's status certainly impacts RB Travis Etienne's fantasy value.

ESPN's Michael DiRocco's "educated guess" is that Jaguars RB James Robinson will lead the team in carries this season, "but Etienne could have a slight lead in total touches." It seems very likely that Etienne serves as Jacksonville's primary pass-catching back. But exactly how carries will be divided is the big question -- especially since you'll need to spend a 3rd- or 4th-round pick to land Etienne. We'll continue to keep a close eye on Jacksonville's backfield plans.
