Sam Darnold One-And-Done In Minnesota?

The Vikings and QB Sam Darnold have not had any discussions about a long-term contract, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Darnold is scheduled to hit free agency in March. He's had a nice season for Minnesota, but the team spent the 10th overall pick of this year's draft on QB J.J. McCarthy, who's the favorite to start next season.

Dynasty Impact

Darnold's play this season makes him a good bet to land a starting job elsewhere in 2025. His new home will likely be a downgrade in situation from Minnesota, but he should still hold QB2 fantasy value. Darnold turns just 28 in June.

McCarthy remains a strong dynasty stash, despite missing his entire rookie season with a knee injury. He was having a strong August before going down by all accounts and will be taking over a Vikings passing game that's ranked or currently ranks top 10 in yards and TDs in all three seasons under HC Kevin O'Connell.

Non-contending dynasty teams should consider making an offer for McCarthy right now.
