Colts QB Anthony Richardson has been given permission to seek a trade, according to Stephen Holder of ESPN. Richardson threw only two passes in 2025 as the backup to Daniel Jones. He suffered an orbital fracture during pregame warmups before the Colts' Week 6 game and underwent surgery in October.
What They're Saying
Stephen Holder of ESPN: “The Indianapolis Colts have given QB Anthony Richardson permission to seek a trade given his uncertain future in Indy, ESPN has learned.”
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Richardson certainly has been a bust since being selected fourth overall in 2023. He only has a 50.6% career completion percentage with 11 TDs and 13 INTs.
The Colts essentially moved on when signing and starting Daniel Jones. They will likely try to bring Jones back, expecting him to be ready for the start of the season.
It would be a surprise for Richardson to be worth much in terms of trade value. Any team bringing him in likely won’t commit to Richardson as a starter. At best, he could enter a competition for a starting QB job.
If Richardson does start again, he could still hold fantasy value despite his disappointing career. He averaged 42.33 rushing yards per game over his first two seasons and averaged 0.66 rushing TDs per game as well.
The odds are likely slim for Richardson to be named a starter. But, if he does find his way to a desperate team that will start him, Richardson’s rushing would make him a bench stash in all formats.
