The Bills and Bears have agreed to a trade to send WR D.J. Moore to Buffalo. The Bears are getting a "mid-round pick" in return, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It's a much-needed boost to QB Josh Allen's weaponry -- and frees up opportunity for WRs Luther Burden and Rome Odunze and TE Colston Loveland in Chicago.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Moore has underwhelmed in Chicago the last two years. He caught 98 balls in 2024 but averaged a career-low 9.9 yards per catch. Then he posted career lows in catches (50) and yards (682) last year. Moore has also registered career lows in Pro Football Focus receiving grade and yards per route in both of the last two seasons.
There were effort questions with Moore the last two years, plus clear chemistry issues with QB Caleb Williams. But he turns just 29 in April and topped 1,100 yards in four of five seasons from 2019-2023. Two of those came in Carolina with new Bills HC Joe Brady as OC.
There's obvious bounce-back potential in Buffalo, where Moore has a clear path to becoming QB Josh Allen's No. 1 target.
Other Winners & Losers
Allen is an obvious winner here, getting his most talented WR since at least Stefon Diggs in 2023. We'll see if the Bills throw more in 2026 after ranking 26th and 25th in pass attempts the past two seasons.
Meanwhile in Chicago, Moore's departure should mean a full-time role for WR Luther Burden in 2026. He averaged an elite 2.69 yards per route last year -- the highest by a rookie with 50+ targets since Odell Beckham in 2024. But he ran a route on just 43% of pass plays on the season and never topped 69% in a single game. Burden is a top 2026 breakout candidate.
Moore's departure also frees up additional target opportunity for WR Rome Odunze and TE Colston Loveland.
