San Francisco agreed to a three-year, $60.4 million deal with longtime Buccaneers WR Mike Evans, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Evans spent his entire 12-year career in Tampa Bay after being selected seventh overall in the 2014 NFL Draft, leaving as the franchise’s all-time leader in receptions (866), receiving yards (13,052), and TDs (108).
What They're Saying
Adam Schefter on X: " Mike Evans’ decision to leave Tampa was not about money; the Bucs were aggressive in their pursuit and presented what was said to be a “very strong offer”. It came down to a desire for a new challenge as Evans enters the last years of his career."
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Now 32, Evans opened his career with 11 straight 1,000-yard seasons before hamstring and collarbone injuries limited him in 2025, when he played just six full games and posted career lows across the board.
Evans’ arrival in San Francisco likely signals that free-agent WR Jauan Jennings will not return.
Evans projects to step into Jennings’ role opposite Ricky Pearsall and should immediately boost the 49ers’ red-zone offense.
Jennings ranked tied for fifth among WRs with 19 red-zone targets last season despite missing two games, and Evans has long been one of the league’s best contested-catch threats near the goal line.
That skill set should be especially valuable for QB Brock Purdy, particularly with TE George Kittle recovering from the torn Achilles he suffered in the Wild Card round.
Projected ADP Movement
Evans has been going as the WR31 in best-ball ADP, behind Egbuka and new teammate Ricky Pearsall.
That places him in high-end WR3 territory. It could prove to be a strong value given Evans’ track record, though he will be 33 when the season begins.
We’ll see if his ADP rises after joining what could be a potent San Francisco offense.
