The Los Angeles Rams selected Ohio State TE Max Klare in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Klare broke out as a redshirt sophomore at Purdue in 2024, leading the team in all major receiving categories and registering a strong 30.9% dominator rating. His 2.22 yards per route ranked 11th among 85 FBS WRs with 30+ targets. Klare transferred to Ohio State for the 2025 campaign and wasn’t as productive playing behind first-round WR Carnell Tate and future first-round WR Jeremiah Smith. But Klare finished third on the Buckeyes in catches (43) and receiving yards (448). The 6’4, 246-pounder is a well-rounded TE. He ran 47% of his college routes from the slot and 43% in-line. Klare creates mismatches with his burst, runs tight routes, and is a serviceable blocker. He doesn’t boast the upside of Kenyon Sadiq or Eli Stowers, but Klare certainly has the goods to develop into a fantasy TE1.
What They're Saying
Draft Sharks Rookie Guide: “Experience both inline and in the slot strengthens his case as an every-down option. Klare needs the right situation and steady snaps to matter in fantasy.”
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
The Rams TE room is robust with Terrance Ferguson, Tyler Higbee, Davis Allen, and Colby Parkinson. Now, they add an athletic option in Klare.
Klare’s production at Purdue and Ohio State show a pass catching receiver who showed blocking development this past year. But he likely will be buried a bit as a rookie.
Klare doesn’t offer much redraft upside in this situation.
Dynasty Impact
The dynasty outlook for Klare is slightly more optimistic. Parkinson and Allen will be free agents after this season while Higbee has two years left on his deal.
He could eventually pair with Terrance Ferguson as a young TE duo. But the production will likely remain split between the TEs going forward.
That places Klare as more of a Round 3 pick in rookie drafts with little initial impact and some long term questions within the team’s depth chart.
