Kirk Cousins Headshot

Kirk Cousins took all of the first-team reps today in practice while Fernando Mendoza took all of the second-team reps per Sam Warren of The Athletic. While the Raiders haven’t officially announced their starting quarterback with just one preseason game left before opening weekend, Cousins has been the expected starter.

2026 Fantasy Football Impact: The Raiders Signal Their Starter

Despite presumably using the first overall pick on a QB, the Raiders signed Cousins to start the season.

Nearly everything in training camp has pointed that way, and this practice was the latest example, while Mendoza gets prepped as the franchise QB.

Before his two seasons with the Falcons, Cousins posted four straight 20.0-plus PPG seasons with the Vikings.

That production, with nearly all of it coming as a passer, allowed the offensive weapons around him to thrive.

We’re a couple of seasons removed from that, but he’s still a viable option to support the Raiders' receiving weapons, including Brock Bowers, while Mendoza gets ready to take over.
