Lions RB Ameer Abdullah (neck) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Bucs. We’ll find out his status by noon ET, but Abdullah won’t be more than a low-end RB3 if active.

Lions RB Ameer Abdullah (neck) put in a limited practice on Wednesday. He was also limited last Friday, so this doesn't necessarily mean he's on track to play against the Bucs this weekend. Check back tomorrow for another update.

Lions RB Ameer Abdullah (neck) is inactive for today’s game against the Ravens. RB Dwayne Washington is also inactive, leaving Theo Riddick and Zach Zenner as Detroit's top 2 RBs. Riddick is still just a RB3 vs. a Baltimore defense allowing only 2.6 yards per carry over the past 4 games.

Lions RB Ameer Abdullah (neck) is not expected to play against the Ravens today, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "Theo Riddick will be treated as the starter," Rapoport adds. Riddick has reached double-digit carries just 6 times as a pro and never topped 14. He's averaging 3.5 yards per carry for his career. Don't expect a big rushing day vs. a tough Ravens run defense, but the extra work pushes Riddick into RB3/flex range. RBs Dwayne Washington and Zach Zenner also figure to pick up some extra carries but would be desperation fantasy plays.

Lions RB Ameer Abdullah (neck) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Ravens. He only got in a limited practice on Friday. We’ll find out Abdullah’s status by noon ET on Sunday, but he’s a shaky fantasy option at less than 100% vs. a Baltimore defense allowing just 2.6 yards per carry over the past 4 games.

Lions RB Ameer Abdullah (ankle) is not listed on the final Week 5 injury report. He practiced all week, including full workouts on Thursday and Friday. Abdullah has seen 17+ touches in all 4 games to open the season and remains in the RB2 mix, despite a tough matchup against the Panthers on Sunday.

Lions RB Ameer Abdullah (ankle) was a full-go in Thursday's practice. It's confirmation that he'll play this weekend against the Panthers. That's a tough matchup, but Abdullah remains in the RB2 mix thanks to volume. He's seen 17+ touches in all 4 games this season.

Lions RB Ameer Abdullah (ankle) put in a limited practice on Wednesday. He didn't express any concern about the injury after last weekend's win, saying he could have re-entered. We'll keep an eye on him, but Abdullah should be fine for Sunday's game against the Panthers.

Lions RB Ameer Abdullah left late in the 4th quarter of Sunday's win over the Vikings after hurting an ankle, but he said afterward that it's not a big deal. "I rolled my ankle up a little bit, but I was ready to go back in," he said, per mLive.com. As long as Abdullah's practice participation isn't affected this week, there seems no reason to worry here.

Lions RB Dwayne Washington (quad) is out for Sunday’s game against the Falcons. RB Zach Zenner figures to step into Washington’s minor role, so we’re not bumping up RB Ameer Abdullah’s Week 3 projection.

Lions RB Zach Zenner is inactive for today's opener against the Cardinals. He wasn't listed on the final injury report, so this looks like a healthy scratch. Zenner is behind Ameer Abdullah, Theo Riddick and Dwayne Washington the depth chart and isn't worth rostering in redraft. We're curious to see who gets the goal-line carries for Detroit.

Lions RB Ameer Abdullah carried 13 times for 60 yards and caught 3 passes for 39 more in a little more than 1 half of action in Friday night's preseason game against the Patriots. RB Theo Riddick carried once and was targeted once over the same span. According to Pro Football Focus' Nathan Jahnke, Abdullah out-snapped Riddick 20 to 8 in the 1st half. It was extremely encouraging usage for Abdullah. If he can even get 15 or so touches per game this season, he's a good bet to score as an RB2.

The Detroit Free Press' Dave Birkett calls Ameer Abdullah the Lions' "feature back." That's a vague term, of course. But Birkett clearly expects Abdullah to be busy in both the running and passing games this season. Tim Twentyman of the team's official website projected "somewhere in the neighborhood of 200-plus carries" for Abdullah this season. Here's what RBs coach David Walker offered: "Ameer’s our guy. Theo has his role, and then the other guys, they got to kind of fit where they fit and that’s how we’ll go." Don't mistake Abdullah for a candidate to lead the league in total touches. But it's starting to sound like he's a lock for 200+ total touches with a shot to approach 250. Only 14 RBs reached the latter mark in 2016.

Tim Twentyman of Lions.com expects RB Ameer Abdullah to carry at least 200 times this season. That might not sound like a huge number, but it's a mark only 19 RBs reached last year. The bigger sticking points for Abdullah's fantasy output are his roles in the passing game and near the goal line. Detroit returns Theo Riddick as 1 of the best pass-catching backs in the game. And bigger RBs in Zach Zenner, Dwayne Washington and Matt Asiata could handle the majority of the goal-line work. We love Abdullah's skill set, but he might not be in position to pay off his RB22 price tag.

Lions RB Ameer Abdullah revealed this week that it was a Lisfranc tear that ended his 2016 season in Week 2, a detail the Lions reportedly (allegedly) removed from the podcast recording where Abdullah revealed it. That makes for a fun story, but the situation likely doesn't matter a whole lot. We already knew that Abdullah tore a foot ligament and required surgery. And then the Lions added little to the backfield in the offseason while calling Abdullah the starter. We'll see how he looks in training camp and the preseason after limited spring work.

The Lions have signed RB Matt Asiata. A fantasy undertaker in Minnesota, Asiata vultured 19 total TDs over the past 4 seasons -- despite averaging just 3.5 yards per carry. He joins Ameer Abdullah, Theo Riddick, Zach Zenner and Dwayne Washington in Detroit's backfield. Those final 2 and Asiata might be battling for 1 or 2 roster spots. We hope Asiata doesn't turn into a fantasy factor again.

Lions GM Bob Quinn called RB Ameer Abdullah his starting RB following the NFL Draft. “I feel pretty good about the position," Quinn said via Detroit Free Press. "There were a couple running backs that we looked at in the middle part of the draft, but just no one we felt that was going to come in and really unseat any of the guys that we have on our roster. So I feel good about that spot.” Abdullah appeared in just 2 games last year before undergoing season-ending foot surgery. If healthy (he’s already participated in spring workouts) the 3rd-year man has a chance to excel as the lead back. Of course, Theo Riddick will help lower Abdullah's receiving upside. But note that Detroit upgraded the O-line in free agency with G TJ Lang and RT Ricky Wagner.

Lions RB Ameer Abdullah has been medically cleared from his September surgery to repair a torn ligament in his foot. He was off to a good start before the Week 2 injury, carrying 18 times for 101 yards and hauling in 5 balls for 57 more. Abdullah will return to a crowded backfield that includes Theo Riddick, Zach Zenner and Dwayne Washington. But he should be considered the favorite to lead-back duties. Abdullah is still only 23, was a 2nd-round pick and posted a SPARQ score in the 98th percentile among RBs.

Lions RB Ameer Abdullah told reporters on Monday that he expects to be "full go" for OTAs this spring. He suffered what was reported as a torn ligament in his left foot in Week 2 and ended up missing the rest of the season. Abdullah looked good before going down, carrying 18 times for 101 yards (5.8 YPC) and catching 5 balls for 57 yards (11.4 YPC) and a score. He'll return to a crowded backfield, though, that also includes Theo Riddick, Zach Zenner and Dwayne Washington.

Lions RB Ameer Abdullah is set for a re-check on his injured foot on Tuesday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. If all goes well, he could resume practicing next week. "Active in 3 weeks is realistic," Rapoport adds. So it sounds like Week 14 is the earliest potential return for Abdullah. We couldn't trust him in fantasy lineups then, but a strong showing could make him an option the following 2 weeks against the Giants and Cowboys.
