Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Chargers RB Austin Ekeler isn't listed on the Week 2 injury report. He, of course, got in just 1 limited practice last week due to a hamstring injury. Ekeler ended up playing 58% of the snaps in the opener, carrying 15 times and surprisingly finishing without a single target. Expect his role to expand vs. the Cowboys this Sunday.
Chargers RB Austin Ekeler (hamstring) is active for today’s game vs. Washington. He only got in a limited practice on Friday this week, but NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said this morning that Ekeler will be a “full go” today. We still have some added risk baked into his Week 1 projection -- but Ekeler would be tough to keep out of fantasy lineups. RB Joshua Kelley is a healthy scratch for Los Angeles, another sign that Ekeler is good to go. Justin Jackson and Larry Rountree will play behind Ekeler today.
Chargers RB Austin Ekeler (hamstring) will be a "full go" for today's opener vs. Washington, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It's a bit surprising after Ekeler got in just a limited practice on Friday. But it continues to sound like his absence on Wednesday and Thursday was precautionary. At this point, Ekeler should be locked into Week 1 fantasy lineups.
Chargers RB Austin Ekeler (hamstring) is expected to play against Washington on Sunday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Ekeler was held out of Wednesday and Thursday's practices as a "precaution," Rapoport adds. The hamstring issue adds risk to Ekeler's Week 1 fantasy outlook, but he retains RB1 upside. We'll continue to look for updates on any type of limitations on Ekeler this weekend.
Chargers RB Austin Ekeler (hamstring) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game vs. Washington. He put in a limited practice on Friday after sitting out the previous 2 days. HC Brandon Staley is reportedly "optimistic" that Ekeler will be able to play. We'll continue to look for updates on his status heading into the opener. The game kicks off at 1 pm ET on Sunday, so we'll get the Chargers' inactives around 11: 30 am. Ekeler will obviously come with elevated risk in fantasy lineups if he plays.
Chargers RB Austin Ekeler (hamstring) did not practice again on Thursday. Beat writers noted that he was doing more with trainers than he did on Wednesday, but a couple of missed practices to start the week has him looking iffy for this weekend's game vs. Washington. We'll get another update on his status tomorrow. RB Justin Jackson would lead a committee backfield alongside Joshua Kelley and potentially Larry Rountree if Ekeler is out on Sunday.
Insider Doug Kyed hears that the Chargers are "optimistic" that RB Austin Ekeler (hamstring) will be able to play in Sunday's opener vs. Washington. It's good news, but Ekeler's practice participation levels on Thursday and Friday will tell the story. Stay tuned.
Chargers RB Austin Ekeler missed Wednesday's practice with a hamstring injury. It's the 1st we've heard of it. Ekeler was at least able to work off to the side with trainers -- but his status for Sunday's opener vs. Washington is now up in the air. Check back tomorrow for another update. It's unclear how L.A. would divvy backfield work between Justin Jackson, Joshua Kelley and Larry Rountree if Ekeler is out.
RBs Justin Jackson, Joshua Kelley and Larry Rountree all made the Chargers' 53-man roster behind RB Austin Ekeler. It's still unclear how snaps and touches will be divvied between those 3. Jackson was reportedly in the lead for the #2 RB job before hurting his groin in the preseason opener. It'll be a situation to monitor in Week 1.
The Chargers believe that there's a "legitimate chance" RB Melvin Gordon (knee), RB Austin Ekeler (concussion, neck) and WR Keenan Allen (hip) are all ready for Saturday's game against the Ravens, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. We'll get the team's 1st official practice report tomorrow. The Chargers still have plenty to play for, with the AFC's #1 seed still in sight.
Chargers RB Austin Ekeler aggravated a neck issue Sunday and appears in doubt for Thursday night's game against the Chiefs. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Ekeler will need further testing on the area, which had experienced "stingers" in recent weeks. The short turnaround for Week 15 obviously makes things more difficult. The Chargers might get Melvin Gordon back from his knee injury for that game. If not, they'd have to turn to rookie Justin Jackson as the backfield starter. Jackson hit Sunday still available in 57% of ESPN leagues.
