Ravens RB Dalvin Cook has been elevated from the practice squad to the active roster. RB Melvin Gordon was released in a corresponding move. Cook is expected to play in Saturday's Divisional Round game vs. the Texans, according to his agency. Cook was abysmal with the Jets this season and joined the Ravens just a couple of weeks ago, so we're not optimistic about his odds of making a major impact this weekend. But his presence certainly doesn't help the fantasy outlooks of RBs Gus Edwards and Justice Hill.

Ravens HC John Harbaugh was asked Wednesday if RB Dalvin Cook is an insurance policy or a legitimate competitor for playing time this postseason. His response: "We view him as potentially a very valuable weapon for our offense. Dalvin Cook is a high-pedigree player, a highly decorated player. He's still got talent, ability, he's smart, he's in great football shape. He looked very good in practice today. So I think he's going to be a very valuable part of our team in the playoffs." Cook is certainly a big name, but he was one of the least effective runners in the league with the Jets this season. Cook mustered just 3.2 yards per carry, ranked dead last among 68 qualifying RBs in Pro Football Focus rushing grade, and ranked 57th among those 68 in Elusive Rating. We're not excited about Cook the player. But the fact that he has a chance to carve out a role for a team with a good shot at getting three playoff games makes Cook worth a shot as a flyer in some fantasy playoff contests.

Ex-Jets RB Dalvin Cook is expected to sign with the Ravens ahead of the playoffs, according to multiple reports. That's a sensible addition for a Baltimore backfield down to Gus Edwards and Justice Hill as meaningful contributors. We'll see how Cook fits in. But unless Ravens coaches say so, there's no reason to expect Cook to leap ahead of either Edwards or Hill in role. Cook averaged just 4.5 carries and 1.0 receptions per game across 15 appearances this year with a Jets offense that hasn't been good. His 3.2 yards per rush and 5.2 yards per catch both sit well below his career marks in those categories. If you're playing playoff fantasy football, you can stash Cook late. We like the Ravens' chances of making a deep run. Just don't expect big things from Cook.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Jets are releasing RB Dalvin Cook. There's no fantasy impact here, because Cook didn't touch the ball the past two games and totaled just 2 touches the week before that. Rookie Israel Abanikanda carried twice and caught four of seven targets as the No. 2 RB in last Thursday night's loss to the Browns. Breece Hall is the only member of the Jets backfield you should be paying attention to if you're playing in Week 18. The timing of this release gives Cook a chance to catch on elsewhere, but we'd be surprised if he lands a meaningful role with a playoff team. Beyond that, we're not expecting much from Cook in 2024 either. The 28-year-old doesn't appear to have much left.

Jets RB Breece Hall (hamstring) is active for today’s game vs. the Falcons. He practiced all week, including a full workout on Friday, so we’re not expecting the hammy to be an issue. RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) is also active.

Jets RBs Breece Hall (hamstring) and Dalvin Cook (shoulder) are expected to play vs. the Falcons today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Hall practiced all week, including a full workout on Friday, so we're not too worried about the hamstring.

Jets RB Breece Hall (hamstring) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Falcons. He practiced all week, including a full workout on Friday, so we’re fully expecting Hall to play. We’ll get the Jets’ inactives around 11:30 am ET on Sunday. RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) is also questionable.

The Jets released RB Michael Carter. The 2021 fourth-round pick totaled just eight carries and 20 targets in nine games this season, including three carries and nine targets over the last four. Carter's departure is just a slight boost for RB Breece Hall's passing-game usage. RB Dalvin Cook remains fantasy-irrelevant. We'll see where Carter lands, but he's obviously a long shot for 2023 fantasy value and is not a must-hold in dynasty. He'll turn 25 in May.

Jets RB Breece Hall ended Monday night with just 50 yards on 16 carries vs. the Chargers. The Jets’ offensive line was not effective in Week 9. Hall’s longest run was a 10-yarder, and the team allowed QB Zach Wilson to be sacked a season-high 8 times. The good news, however, is that Dalvin Cook and Michael Carter combined for 8 total touches to Hall’s 20 in the contest. Volume certainly wasn’t the issue. Hall should have a much better time in Week 10 against a Raiders defense that ranks as the fifth-easiest RB matchup in adjusted fantasy points allowed.

Jets RB Breece Hall saw a predictable drop in rushing production in Sunday's win over the Eagles. He tallied just 39 yards on 12 rushes (3.3 per carry) against one of the league's top run defenses. But Hall did run for the team's only TD. He also set season highs in targets (5), receptions (5), and receiving yards (54). Hall hadn't previously caught more than three passes in a game this year -- which he did each of the previous two weeks -- and hadn't produced more than 20 receiving yards. Hall dominated backfield work for the second straight game. Dalvin Cook carried only three times for 12 yards. Michael Carter carried just once. And each guy saw 1 target. Hall looks like an every-week fantasy starter going forward. Just make sure you expect production variations in a shaky-to-poor Jets offense.

Jets RB Breece Hall recorded 6 carries for 56 yards with 3 catches on 4 targets for 13 yards in Sunday’s loss vs. the Chiefs. Teammate Dalvin Cook was ineffective in Week 4 with just 16 yards on 5 carries. This backfield has not been particularly strong so far this season, but a Week 5 matchup vs. a Broncos defense that allows 176.0 rushing yards per game to opponents so far this season should be appealing.

The Jets’ backfield is ugly. RBs Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook each tallied 18 rushing yards on 12 and 8 carries, respectively. Neither player is getting it done for fantasy managers right now. Next week’s matchup vs. the Chiefs isn’t going to be any easier. Both Hall and Cook will be flex considerations in deeper leagues for now, though expectations shouldn’t be high for either.

Jets RB Breece Hall totaled only 9 yards on 6 touches against Dallas. He wasn't afraid to speak his mind in the postgame presser. “I mean, I only got four touches. That’s why we struggled," Hall said. "It is what it is. We just got down early today and just abandoned the run. That type of stuff happens. You feel like you have to get back in the game and it just slips away.” Dalvin Cook, meanwhile, handled only 5 touches for 11 yards. Look for Hall to creep closer to 12+ touches next Sunday against New England.

An MRI confirmed that Jets QB Aaron Rodgers has a torn Achilles, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That ends Rodgers' season after just four snaps. Turning 40 in December, Rodgers' football future is uncertain. He's signed with the Jets for two more seasons, although he carries a $51.5 million cap hit in 2025. The Rodgers injury puts Zach Wilson back under center for now. We'll see if the Jets -- with Super Bowl aspirations -- make a move at QB. For now, all Jets skill-position players are fantasy losers.

Jets HC Robert Saleh said after Monday night's win over the Bills that the team fears QB Aaron Rodgers has a torn Achilles. He's scheduled for an MRI on Monday to confirm. "It's not good," Saleh added. A torn Achilles would end Rodgers' season -- and put the 39-year-old's football future in serious doubt. It'd also leave QB Zach Wilson as New York's starter. That'd obviously be a significant downgrade for all of the Jets' skill-position players.

Jets RB Breece Hall looked explosive in his first game back in NFL action, logging 10 carries for 127 yards in Monday’s OT victory vs. the Bills. Among his highlights are an 83-yard run he made at the beginning of the second quarter and a 20-yard reception. A fully healthy Hall likely would’ve taken that long run to the end zone, but it’s a great sign of future production to come nonetheless. Teammate Dalvin Cook was not quite as efficient in the contest. The veteran posted 13 carries for 33 rushing yards and 3 catches for 26 yards. It’s safe to assume the Jets’ coaching staff will continue to split the workload between the pair as the early season continues. Even so, Hall is the player that fantasy managers should trust between the two in Week 2 vs. the Cowboys.
