We'll see exactly how he fits into Denver's front, though Chubb seems more likely to stay at DE rather than OLB -- where Denver already sports Von Miller and Shane Ray. Chubb's arrival should certainly help the team defense and presents plenty of IDP upside. He racked up 10 sacks each of the past 2 seasons and tallied 44 total tackles for loss over that span.

The Broncos have ruled S Justin Simmons out for Thursday night's game against the Colts because of an ankle injury he suffered while celebrating during Sunday's win over the Jets. The Denver Post reports that Simmons is also likely to land on IR. That's not a huge loss for IDP owners or the defense but could further hamper the Broncos' TE coverage, an area that has been a defensive weakness anyway. Simmons' status is good news for Colts TE Jack Doyle this week.

Broncos OLB Shane Ray tore a ligament in his left wrist Thursday that is expected to cost him 6-8 weeks, according to The Denver Post. Ray was set to have surgery Saturday morning. He had been expected to start in place of the retired DeMarcus Ware. Denver's top reserve at the position, Shaq Barrett, is on the non-football injury list with a hip issue that HC Vance Joseph expects to keep him out until Week 2 or 3 of the regular season. So the Broncos are expected to turn to 4th-year player Kasim Edebali and former practice-squad player Vontarrius Dora. The situation could significantly hurt the pass rush of 1 of fantasy football's top team defenses.

The Broncos selected Florida State DE DeMarcus Walker in the 2nd round of the NFL Draft. Walker racked up 25 sacks and 33.5 total tackles for loss over the past 2 seasons, including a career high 16 sacks in his senior campaign. He figures to play DE in Denver's 3-4 front.

The Broncos have hired Mike McCoy as their new OC. It's a homecoming after McCoy spent the 2009-2012 seasons in the same role. His QBs during that stretch ranged from Kyle Orton to Tim Tebow to Peyton Manning. McCoy was able to coax top-15 finishes in total yards and passing yards out of the Orton-led squads. With Tebow in 2011, Denver ranked 1st in rushing attempts and yards but 31st in passing and 23rd in total offense. McCoy's 2012 season with Manning produced a #4 finish in total yards and #2 in points. McCoy struggled as the Chargers' HC for the past 4 years, producing a 27-37 record (although injuries did him no favors). All 4 of those squads led by QB Philip Rivers ranked top 10 in passing yards. McCoy is widely regarded as 1 of the better offensive minds in the game, so this is a nice hire for Denver. He seems to lean toward a pass-heavy attack but has shown the willingness and ability to adjust his scheme. We'll see what he has in mind for this Broncos attack.
