Washington WR DeSean Jackson put in a full practice Monday after missing the preseason opener with a twisted ankle.  Jackson got hurt the day before the game when he got stepped on during the walkthrough, but he told reporters Monday that he'll be "flying around" in the 2nd exhibition.  Don't consider this an issue any longer unless Jackson endures some further setback.

Redskins WR Pierre Garcon will miss Thursday's preseason game against New England with a hamstring injury. HC Jay Gruden called his injury “minor,” so there’s no cause for concern. DeSean Jackson is unlikely to play in the Thursday night tilt as well after tweaking his ankle in Wednesday’s practice. The 2014 fantasy outlook for both players remains unaffected.

The Washington Post's Mark Bullock believes DeSean Jackson will play the Z receiver role in HC Jay Gruden's offense.  That's the position A.J. Green played for Gruden in Cincinnati for the past 3 seasons.  Green, of course, led the Bengals in targets all 3 years, with an average of 153.  We're not expecting Jackson to reach that mark in 2014.  He's not as talented as Green, and Washington has a deeper group of pass-catchers than Cincinnati.  But the target differential between Jackson and teammate Pierre Garcon won't be as big as most are projecting.  Both guys could finish as top 20 WRs this season.

The Redskins have signed WR DeSean Jackson to a 3-year, $24 million deal.  The 'Skins were Jackson's most-interested suitor from the get-go and didn't let him leave Washington without signing the dotted line.  It's an exciting addition for an offense that already features explosive youngsters Robert Griffin, Pierre Garcon and Jordan Reed.  Jackson immediately becomes the team's primary deep threat.  He's unlikely to match last year's 126 targets, though, and is probably looking at a drop in production across the board.  We like this signing more for RG3 than D-Jax.

The Eagles have released WR DeSean Jackson.  The move comes less than an hour after a report was published connecting D-Jax to an L.A. gang.  Jackson's off-field issues were certainly the driving force behind the move.  He proved a perfect fit in HC Chip Kelly's offense last year, setting career highs with 82 catches and 1,332 yards.  He matched a personal best with 9 TDs and finished among the top 12 WR across fantasy formats.  Despite the character concerns, Jackson's talent and age (27) guarantees that he finds a new home for 2014.  It won't be as inviting as Philly was, though.  His fantasy stock takes a significant hit with this news.  Meanwhile, the Eagles lose their most explosive pass-catcher.  They might look to replace Jackson with an early-round rookie, but Jeremy Maclin and Riley Cooper figure to open the season as the team's top 2 WRs.

Eagles insiders Eliot Shorr-Parks and A.J. Perez report that the team has become concerned with WR DeSean Jackson's ties to an L.A. gang that has been connected to a pair of homicides over the past 5 years.  Although Jackson isn't a suspect in either case, he has been contacted by authorities about his relationship with some of the gang members.  As of now, police have no "hard evidence" that he's a member of the gang.  Shorr-Parks and Perez's report adds that D-Jax has missed team meetings, which the organization believes is a result of "his friends becoming a more powerful -- and negative -- influence in his life."  And Eagles source added, "They are concerned about having him around the younger players."  This, of course, is likely a major reason the Eagles have discussed trading or releasing Jackson this offseason.

The Eagles are actively attempting to trade WR DeSean Jackson.  Previous reports had them merely listening to offers for the receiver.  Insider Jason La Canfora reports that Philly has "stepped up efforts" to find a taker, shopping D-Jax to "several teams."  The Seahawks, 49ers, Jets and Panthers are believed to be among those teams.  Jackson would be a welcome big-play addition to any of those squads, although his fantasy value would take a hit.  He busted out for a career-best 82-1,332-9 line in HC Chip Kelly's offense last year.  The Eagles have a couple capable WRs in Jeremy Maclin and Riley Cooper, but neither provides the explosive ability or versatility of Jackson.  His loss would be significant for QB Nick Foles.

Derrick Gunn of CSN Philly reports that the Eagles are listening to trade offers for WR DeSean Jackson.  The team has reportedly fielded queries from at least the 49ers and the Patriots.  Rumors to this effect have been swirling all offseason, as well as last year.  But this is the most concrete report from a local outlet.  The Eagles are reportedly "looking for a third-round pick and potentially more."  If true, that shows Jackson's fairly weak standing with the team that drafted him in the 2nd round and then re-signed him for 5 years and $47 million in March 2012.  At the same time, if that's the price and no one's paid it yet, it doesn't speak well of Jackson's league-wide reputation.  We'll see how this situation plays out.  If Jackson's indeed available and affordable, we'd expect some playmaker-needy franchise to take a chance on the 27-year-old speedster.  Salaries of $10.5 million in 2014 and $9.75 million the next 2 years will factor in as well, though.

Eagles WR DeSean Jackson is looking for a raise this offseason.  He's coming off a career year that saw him rack up 82 catches, 1,332 yards and 9 TDs -- all matching or setting new personal bests.  Of course, HC Chip Kelly's innovative offense was a big reason for Jackson's big year.  Plus, he's set to make $10.25 million in 2014.  His average annual salary of $9.7 million is 8th-most among all WRs.  Jackson is fairly paid and is unlikely to get a new deal from Philly's front-office.  We'll see if this turns into any sort of holdout.

Eagles WR DeSean Jackson (ankle) is active for today's game against the Raiders.  He was limited in practice this week, but there's been no indication that the ankle will be an issue today.  D-Jax is a strong fantasy play vs. a burnable secondary.

CSN Philly reports that Eagles WR DeSean Jackson suffered a minor ankle injury in practice on Wednesday.  The team listed him as a limited participant and doesn't expect it to affect his status for Sunday's visit to Oakland.  Check out our Week 9 WR rankings to see whether you should start Jackson against the Raiders.

Eagles QB Michael Vick told CBS' Jason La Canfora that WR DeSean Jackson could see 30% or more of the targets this season.  That's a lofty percentage. Only 3 WRs league-wide saw 30% or more of their team's targets last year (Brandon Marshall, Reggie Wayne and A.J. Green).  D-Jax saw about 20% of Philly's targets when he was on the field.  As an undersized, downfield receiver, he doesn't project as a target monster.  We doubt he'll reach 30%, but he should climb above last year's mark.  The Eagles are woefully thin at WR after losing Jeremy Maclin and Arrelious Benn for the season. Jackson is certainly capable of surpassing his career high of 121 targets.  That should help his game-to-game consistency.  D-Jax is a strong WR3 for your fantasy squad.

WR DeSean Jackson has had the "strongest camp of any Eagles player," according to insider Jeff McLane.  "He catches pretty much everything thrown in his direction and there hasn’t been a defensive back – Eagle or Patriot -- that’s been able to run with him," McLane adds.  Jackson hauled in a 50-yard TD in Tuesday's scrimmage against New England.  With Philly's WRs dropping like flies, D-Jax should see plenty of targets this year.  That should help him gain some week-to-week consistency.  We'd still feel more comfortable with Jackson as a WR3, but he's capable of WR2 production for your fantasy squad.

Eagles WR DeSean Jackson told reporters Saturday that he's #1 on the team's punt-return depth chart.  He expects to fill that role much more in 2013 after logging just 1 return last season.  Jackson led the league with 50 returns as a rookie in 2008, but that total has decreased every year since.  He has proved dynamic in that role, though, averaging 10.5 yards per return for his career.  We'll be curious to see how often HC Chip Kelly puts him back there and subjects his #1 WR to further injury risk.  Jeremy Maclin's ACL tear removed a return candidate, but WR Damaris Johnson led the team in returns last year and performed well in that role.  Jackson tallied 4 punt-return TDs over his 1st 3 seasons, but that's not enough to pump up his fantasy value outside of leagues that count return yardage.  Durability, on the other hand, stands as the biggest risk to drafting Jackson for your fantasy football team.

As expected, Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin has torn his right ACL.  The Philadelphia Inquirer reports confirmation of the feared injury.  That means Maclin will miss the final season of his rookie contract and likely hit free agency next spring while still rehabbing.  His absence will open up pass targets for Arrelious Benn (if he's healthy) and the team's TEs.  It also further secures DeSean Jackson's role as #1 WR.

There's been plenty of talk about the changes Eagles HC Chip Kelly will need to make to his offense at the NFL level.  But TEs coach Ted Williams says not much will change.  “It’ll be very, very similar to what you saw at Oregon because the play-calling," Williams said.  "[Kelly] needs to be comfortable with what he’s saying to the offense and how he’s communicating it. So you don’t just out of the box decide that you’re going to do something a certain way and you don’t feel comfortable with it. So it’s going to look like Oregon.”  Kelly's Oregon offenses were defined by 3 things: a fast tempo, run-heavy play-calling and spreading the ball around in the passing game.  We're expecting to see all 3 of those things in Philly this year.
