Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin expects to be more involved in HC Chip Kelly's offense than he was in Andy Reid's.  “I’m going to be honest, the last offense was geared to the position that [DeSean Jackson] played,” Maclin said. “That’s just what it was... So the fact that I was able to personally accomplish what I accomplished, I think as far as the position I was playing, I think that’s above what that guy normally does.  D-Jack and I were able to complement each other, and it worked well. But that’s just how the offense was tailored.”  Sounds a bit whiny to us.  Maclin saw a healthy 7.2 looks per game over the past 4 seasons -- just a smidge below Jackson's 7.4.  And Maclin actually saw more targets per game than D-Jax in each of the past 3 years.  We're projecting Maclin for a decrease in looks this season in Kelly's spread-the-wealth offense.

Eagles WR DeSean Jackson was demoted to the 2nd and 3rd-team offenses early in OTAs because he wasn't comfortable at all the positions in new HC Chip Kelly's offense.  “At the beginning of the process I didn’t know the full offense and I didn’t know every play, so that probably had to do with why I was moved to different teams and things like that," Jackson said. "Now I am all-in on the offense and I’m very familiar with the whole system."  All of Philly's offensive guys are facing a steep learning curve this offseason.  The players who get comfortable in Kelly's offense quickest will be the best bets for fantasy production.  It'll be something to monitor closely this summer.

The Delaware County Times reports that Eagles WR DeSean Jackson could see some RB duties in read-option situations this season.  That notion comes as no surprise.  Since HC Chip Kelly arrived, Jackson has been compared to Oregon's De'Anthony Thomas, a WR-RB hybrid.  Jackson likely won't see anywhere near the rushing work that Thomas did under Kelly, who gave him 92 carries last year and 55 as a freshman.  But Jackson's rushing upside will certainly factor into his value to your fantasy team this season -- and to the preseason projection we're set to unveil soon.

Eagles insider Tim McManus points out that WR DeSean Jackson is essentially entering a contract year.  He still has 4 years left on his current deal.  But there's no guaranteed money after 2013.  That makes the final 3 seasons of the contract "option" years for the team.  And with D-Jax due $10.25 million in 2014, he'll need to have a big campaign to see the next year of that deal.  That added motivation can't hurt.  We're already excited about Jackson's 2013 fantasy prospects in HC Chip Kelly's up-tempo offense.

The Eagles have spent the past week starting to learn new HC Chip Kelly's offense.  WR DeSean Jackson already knows that he'll be expected to play a variety of positions this year.  "They've done a good job letting me know they want me to learn more than 1 position," D-Jax said.  "Just being able to move around the offense.  Z, X, the A receiver, the Y.  Whatever it is... I think they're gonna move me around."  Jackson will be one of the more intriguing guys to monitor this offseason.  His speed and versatility makes him a perfect fit in Kelly's offense.  Durability will continue to be an issue, but Jackson will carry plenty of upside in 2013 fantasy drafts.

Eagles WR DeSean Jackson is pumped about new HC Chip Kelly's offense.  And for good reason.  Kelly reportedly told D-Jax that he'll be used like DeAnthony Thomas was at Oregon.  Thomas is listed as a RB, but he was used all over the field in 2012.  He racked up 701 rushing yards, 445 receiving yards, and 16 total TDs.  Thomas and Jackson are similarly sized and are both lightning-quick with plenty of long speed.  It's an intriguing story for Jackson's 2013 fantasy outlook.  Percy Harvin has shown us how valuable a WR who receives a few carries per game can be.  We wonder about Jackson's ability to stay healthy with so many touches though.  He's missed 9 games and parts of others over the past 4 seasons.  Kelly's offense will be one of the most intriguing storylines of the offseason.  All of Philly's skill-position players will carry plenty of upside in 2013.

Eagles HC Andy Reid revealed that WR DeSean Jackson fractured his ribs during Monday night's loss to the Panthers. D-Jax will be placed on IR, ending his 2012 campaign. It might be a blessing in disguise for fantasy owners. Jackson wasn't helping much anyways, topping 62 yards just once in his last 5 games. Philly might be ready to give rookie WR Damaris Johnson a shot to replace Jackson on the outside. He's averaged 15.8 yards per catch in limited action this season. WRs Jason Avant and Riley Cooper will also help pick up the slack. But none of these guys will be immediate fantasy starters in Philly's fledgling passing game. WR Jeremy Maclin will dominate targets the rest of the way.

Eagles WR DeSean Jackson left in the 1st half of Monday night's game with a sternum injury.  X-rays came back negative, but D-Jax is considered doubtful to return.  That suggests a relatively significant injury.  We'll be listening for an update in HC Andy Reid's post-game press conference.

Update: Reid's only update was that Jackson will undergo an MRI tomorrow.

Eagles WR DeSean Jackson left in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game against the Falcons with a leg injury.  He limped off to the locker room with a couple trainers and then was seen jogging on the sidelines.  It doesn't look serious, but we'll update his status when we learn more.

Update: D-Jax returned to the game after getting x-rays on his ankle, which obviously came back negative.

Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin (hip) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.  HC Andy Reid said he just didn't make enough progress this week to have a chance to get out there on Sunday.  Rookie WR Damaris Johnson picked up most of the snaps Maclin missed last weekend, but he managed just 1 catch for 13 yards.  Slot WR Jason Avant is a better desperation option.  WR DeSean Jackson -- who practiced all week and is listed as probable with that hamstring -- is the only recommend fantasy start among the Eagles' WRs.

Eagles beat writer Jeff McLane hears that WRs Jeremy Maclin (hip) and DeSean Jackson (hamstring) are expected to play against the Ravens today, "barring unforeseen setbacks."  Both guys put in limited practices on Friday and participated in Saturday's walkthrough.  We'll find out their official statuses in a few hours.  If they are active, consider Maclin and D-Jax WR3s in fantasy.

It sounds like Eagles HC Andy Reid is expecting both Jeremy Maclin (hip) and DeSean Jackson (hamstring) to play against the Ravens this weekend.  "I think we'll be OK there," Reid said. "They're both doing a lot better."  Neither player practiced on Thursday, though, so we're a bit skeptical.  Let's see if Maclin and Jackson are able to get back on the field tomorrow.

Eagles WR DeSean Jackson reportedly injured his hamstring in Wednesday's practice.  He was held out on Thursday and should now be considered iffy for Week 2.  We'll see if he can get back on the field tomorrow.  With WR Jeremy Maclin's status also in question, WR Jason Avant is shaping up as a sneaky fantasy option against the Ravens this weekend.

Eagles WR coach David Culley could tell that DeSean Jackson's mind was on his contract situation throughout last season.  "He tried not to let it affect him," Culley said.  "Sometimes he didn't do a very good job of that. It affected him in meetings. It affected him on the field. There were days when it didn't. But it made him inconsistent."  Culley also thinks D-Jax was afraid to go over the middle because of the money issue, but that's always been a problem for him.  With a new 5-year, $47 million deal in hand, we're expecting Jackson to be more focused and more productive in 2012.  He's still a one-dimensional receiver, though, and will be an inconsistent week-to-week fantasy option.

The Eagles and WR DeSean Jackson have agreed to a new 5-year, $51 million deal.  It includes $15 million guaranteed.  D-Jax was reportedly willing to play out the 2012 season under the franchise tag, but Philly wanted to lock-up one of its core offensive pieces.  Jackson struggled in 2011 but racked up 2,223 yards and 15 TDs over the previous 2 years.  His dynasty value is stabilized with the new contract.

The Eagles have placed their franchise tag on WR DeSean Jackson.  The deal will pay him around $9.5 million in 2012.  Of course, Philly is still free to negotiate a long-term deal with D-Jax, or trade him elsewhere.  But GM Howie Roseman made it pretty clear that the organization wants to keep Jackson around.  "We want DeSean to be an Eagle for the long haul and this is a step in the right direction to accomplish that," Roseman said.  "We will continue our efforts on getting a long-term deal done with him."  We fully expect D-Jax to remain in Philly through the 2012 season, although he may need to exhibit better behavior in order to get that long-term contract.

Speaking to the media at the Combine, Eagles GM Howie Roseman said that the team is "excited about the possibilities for DeSean Jackson."  It's the most positive statement we've heard on D-Jax from Philly's management this offseason.  Those close to the organization expect Jackson to be franchise-tagged.  The question then becomes whether the Eagles will trade him, work on a long-term contract, or let him play out the 1-year franchise deal.  We're still betting on one of the two latter options.

Beat writer Jeff McLane reports that the Eagles will use their franchise tag on WR DeSean Jackson.  That'll pay the combustible playmaker about $9.5 million in 2012.  Of course, the tag wouldn't guarantee that D-Jax remains in Philly.  The Eagles could tag-and-trade him.  The Patriots, Ravens, and 49ers are teams we've heard mentioned as potential suitors.  But we're betting on the Eagles hanging on to Jackson for what feels like a Super Bowl or bust kind of season.

Eagles WR DeSean Jackson ended up seeing Jets CB Darrelle Revis for the majority of Sunday's game.  He finished with just 2 catches on 2 targets for 28 yards.  It was the 7th time this season that D-Jax has been held under 50 yards.  He'll be worth using as a high-risk, high-reward fantasy play against the Cowboys in Week 16 though.  Dallas has allowed 274 passing yards per game over the past 5 weeks.
