Browns QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson (concussion) is out for this weekend’s game vs. the Rams. The team confirmed on Friday that QB Joe Flacco will start that one. The 38-year-old isn’t a good option at this point of his career – but he should prove to be at least a slight upgrade over Thompson-Robinson and P.J. Walker.

Browns QB Joe Flacco has been getting first-team reps in practice and "could start" this weekend's game vs. the Rams, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson is in concussion protocol -- and hasn't been good in his three starts. QB P.J. Walker has been just as bad. Flacco just joined the Browns 10 days ago but is likely the team's best passer. He completed 58% of his passes at 5.5 yards per attempt with five TDs and three INTs in five appearances for the Jets last year. That included outings of 309 and 307 passing yards in the first two weeks of the season. Flacco is not a viable Week 13 fantasy play, but we'd consider him a slight upgrade for Cleveland's skill-position players.

Browns QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson left to get checked for a concussion after taking a hit to the head in the third quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Broncos. He's been replaced by QB P.J. Walker. We'll pass along an update on Thompson-Robinson when we know more.

Update: Thompson-Robinson has been ruled out with a concussion. That makes him unlikely to play in Week 13. We'll see if Cleveland starts QB P.J. Walker or QB Joe Flacco vs. the Rams.

Browns QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson will start this weekend's game vs. the Broncos, HC Kevin Stefanski said Monday. Cleveland just added Joe Flacco to the QB room, but DTR will get at least one more start. The rookie did very little to win last week's game vs. the Steelers, completing 56% of his passes at 3.8 yards per attempt with 0 TDs. But he turned it over just once and took only one sack. Thompson-Robinson is a bottom-barrel QB2 for Week 12 and will continue to be a drain on Cleveland's WRs. (TE David Njoku tallied a 7-56-0 line on a whopping 15 targets vs. Pittsburgh.)

Multiple reports on Sunday evening indicate that the Browns are signing free agent QB Joe Flacco to their practice squad. The former Super Bowl XLVII MVP visited with Cleveland on Friday, and it's expected that he'll be elevated to the active roster shortly. This move adds much-needed positional depth in the aftermath of the announcement of starter Deshaun Watson's season-ending shoulder surgery. Fantasy managers in deeper 2QB/superflex leagues can consider throwing light FAAB or a speculative waiver claim on Flacco, though it would be wise to temper expectations. It's still entirely possible that the Browns will stick with rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson under center, and they do still have backup P.J. Walker on the roster as well. Stay tuned for further updates.

The Browns plan to start rookie QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson this Sunday against the Steelers, according to Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz. That's a mild surprise in the wake of QB Deshaun Watson's season-ending shoulder injury. DTR got the first chance to replace Watson back in Week 4 but played his way into P.J. Walker taking the next three fill-in spots. Apparently Cleveland has seen enough development from Thompson-Robinson -- and probably enough meh-to-poor play from Walker -- to try the rookie again. DTR certainly doesn't boost the outlooks for any pass catchers. He completed just 52.8% of passes at 3.4 yards per attempt with 0 TDs and 3 INTs in his lone extended action to date. But the fifth-round pick at least presents the upside of the unknown. Walker's been out of college since 2017 and garnered nine NFL starts over the past four years. Thompson-Robinson's one start into his pro career after a nice college run that included five years as UCLA's primary QB. He completed 63.3% of his passes at 7.9 yards per attempt there. More important for his own fantasy purposes, Thompson-Robinson ran for 1,826 yards (even with sack yardage subtracted) and 28 TDs across his college career. He's worth a pickup in superflex leagues. And if the rookie can't do enough to keep WR Amari Cooper and TE David Njoku relevant, expect a switch back to Walker.

Update: HC Kevin Stefanski confirmed that Thompson-Robinson will start vs. the Steelers this weekend.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero calls Browns QB Deshaun Watson's status for Sunday's game vs. the 49ers "TBD." Pelissero adds that Watson is dealing with a rotator cuff contusion. We'll keep a close eye on his status throughout the week, but Watson shouldn't be in your fantasy plans this week with a bum shoulder in a brutal matchup. Cleveland will be in major trouble if forced to start QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson against San Francisco.

Browns QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson struggled in his NFL debut, completing 19 of 36 passes for 121 yards and 3 INTs vs. the Ravens. The Browns and fantasy managers will hope that normal starter Deshaun Watson is able to make it back from his right shoulder injury after their bye week in Week 5.

Browns QB Deshaun Watson (shoulder) is officially inactive for today’s game vs. the Ravens. That leaves fifth-round rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson under center for Cleveland. DTR was an inconsistent college passer but looked OK this preseason, completing 63.8% of his passes at 7.6 yards per attempt. We’d still consider him a significant downgrade from Watson, though, and expect a run-heavy game plan from the Browns today.

Multiple reports on Sunday morning have confirmed that Browns QB Deshaun Watson (right shoulder) will not play in Week 4 vs. the Ravens. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero tweeted that Watson's warm-ups "didn't go as hoped" in pregame. In Watson's absence, Rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson will start at QB for the Browns. Thompson-Robinson appeared in a handful of preseason games this summer and performed well, showcasing his plus-rushing ability. We don't consider him a viable fantasy option outside of deep 2QB or superflex formats. Check out where he lands in our updated QB rankings.

Browns QB Deshaun Watson (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Ravens. He was limited in practice all week with what's been reported as right shoulder soreness. ESPN's Adam Schefter tweets that Watson "barely threw this week," and HC Kevin Stefanski only said Friday that he's "hopeful" Watson will play on Sunday. We'll look for further updates on the situation, but Watson is not a recommended QB1 play this week. Rookie QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson is Cleveland's backup.

The Cardinals acquired QB Joshua Dobbs and a 2024 seventh-round pick from the Browns in exchange for a 2024 fifth-rounder. Dobbs joins Colt McCoy and Clayton Tune as the healthy QBs in Arizona. The Cardinals have yet to name a Week 1 starter, with QB Kyler Murray still on the mend. The Browns, meanwhile, look set to roll with rookie QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson as QB Deshaun Watson's backup.
