Ben Johnson will remain with the Lions as OC for the 2024 season, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Johnson had been a hot name in this year's coaching cycle and had been linked to Washington's still-open job. His return is excellent news for Detroit's offense. The Lions lead the NFL with 387 total yards per game and rank fourth with 26.9 points per game under Johnson over the past two seasons.

Lions QB Jared Goff completed 23 of 32 passes for 320 yards with 2 TDs in Week 18’s win vs. the Vikings. The veteran finishes the season ranked first among QBs in passing yards (4,575), fourth in passing TDs (30), and ninth (min. 100 attempts) in passer rating (97.9). Goff will enter 2024 in the final year of his contract at the age of 30, but the way that he and the Lions’ offense have thrived over the past few seasons gives him a reasonably good chance of sticking around in Detroit long-term. Those looking for a bargain QB2 option in dynasty should consider acquiring Goff this offseason.

Lions HC Dan Campbell said Monday that he plans to play his starters in this weekend's regular-season finale vs. the Vikings. Detroit has won the NFC North, can't drop lower than the No. 3 seed in the NFC, and can only climb to No. 2 with a win plus a Cowboys loss to the Commanders and an Eagles loss to the Giants. "We want to use this as fuel," Campbell said. "I’ve got pure octane right now. I woke up and I’m ready, so we’re moving forward.” There's still some risk that the Lions pull key starters at some point during this game, especially if Dallas and Philadelphia have big leads. But we'll be projecting the starters for at least close to normal workloads in the Week 18 Rankings.

Lions QB Jared Goff threw for a season-low 161 yards in Sunday's loss to the Bears. That came a week after he threw for 213 against the Saints, in what was his second-lowest yardage output of the year to that point. The issue then was a season-low 25 pass attempts. Goff's performance was otherwise good (2 TDs, 8.5 yards per attempt). Goff's primary issue Sunday might have been the matchup. His worst Pro Football Focus passing grade of the season entering Week 14 came in the Week 11 meeting with the Bears. You might want to blame playing on the road as well, but that hasn't been an issue for Goff this season. He entered Sunday averaging 273.7 passing yards per game at home vs. 274.3 on the road (7.75 YPA home, 7.55 road). His final three fantasy weeks find matchups that have been fairly neutral for QB scoring, and all in places that won't have weather issues (home, at Minnesota, at Dallas). Expect to find Goff around the bottom of QB1 territory in our weekly rankings the rest of the way.

Lions QB Jared Goff threw for 236 yards, 2 TDs and 3 INTs in Sunday’s comeback win over Chicago. Goff struggled for most of the afternoon before leading a pair of TD drives late in the fourth quarter. His scores went to Jameson Williams (32 yards) and Amon-Ra St. Brown (7 yards). Goff's rest-of-season schedule looks neutral, with only one truly favorable matchup (at Chicago, Week 14) remaining. On the plus side: Goff also has just one outdoor matchup left on the schedule.

Lions QB Jared Goff won a 41-38 duel over QB Justin Herbert and the Chargers in Week 10. Detroit's running game was dominant in this one, with RBs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery racking up 193 yards and three TDs. But Goff was excellent when called upon, completing 23 of 33 passes (69.7%) for 333 yards (10.1 YPA), two TDs, and 0 INTs. His first TD came on a screen to WR Amon-Ra St. Brown. But the second was a perfectly thrown pass down the seam to TE Brock Wright from 25 yards out. The Lions remain a run-centric offense, but OC Ben Johnson has the entire unit cooking, giving Goff plenty of weekly upside. He has the 10th easiest QB schedule from Weeks 11 to 17. And only one of those seven games has potential for bad weather (Week 14 in Chicago). Goff has a chance to score as a top-12 fantasy QB the rest of the way.

The Browns traded WR Donovan Peoples-Jones to the Lions in exchange for a sixth-round pick. Peoples-Jones turned in a promising 2022 season, catching 61 of 96 targets for 839 yards and three TDs. But he's been mostly invisible so far this year, totaling just eight receptions on 18 targets. He joins a Lions offense still searching for a consistent No. 2 WR behind Amon-Ra St. Brown. WR Josh Reynolds has been good in spurts this year, but WR Jameson Williams has continued to disappoint. We'll see what kind of role Peoples-Jones can carve out, but he's unlikely to emerge as a reliable fantasy option this season. The 24-year-old is set to hit free agency in March. The Browns, meanwhile, are left with WRs Marquise Goodwin, Cedric Tillman, and David Bell behind Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore.

Lions QB Jared Goff completed 26 of 37 passes for 272 yards with 1 TD and INT apiece in Week 8’s victory over the Raiders. The veteran didn’t bring much value to fantasy lineups on Monday night, though a lot of that can be attributed to the fact that the Lions’ rushing attack was extremely potent. He’s still the QB12 in fantasy points per game (17.3) after a pair of less-than-stellar performances. The Lions will go on bye next week and return to face the Chargers on November 12.

Lions QB Jared Goff completed 33 of 53 passes for 284 yards with 0 TDs and 1 INT in Week 7’s loss vs. the Ravens. The Lions’ offense struggled in this road matchup and only achieved two drives of 25 or more yards in the first half. In the pair of red zone opportunities Goff and company had in the second half, the end results were both turnovers on downs. As disappointing as this performance was, we like Goff’s chances to rebound in Week 8 vs. the Raiders.

Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown went off in Sunday’s win over Tampa Bay, snagging 12 passes for 124 yards and 1 score. Jared Goff played well – on the road, no less – while St. Brown looked fully over his abdomen injury. His TD came from 27 yards out, boosted by RB Craig Reynolds' hustle block. St. Brown will remain a WR1 for Sunday’s game at Baltimore.

Lions QB Jared Goff had a tremendous performance in Sunday's win vs. the Panthers, completing 20 of 28 attempts for 236 yards and 3 TDs. Even without WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (abdomen) and RB Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) in the lineup, the Detroit offense fired on all cylinders in this contest. A healthier supporting cast in Week 6 vs. the Buccaneers will again make Goff an appealing fantasy option.

Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (abdomen) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Panthers. He didn't practice all week and was listed as doubtful, so he wasn’t particularly close to playing. We’ll see if he can make it back for Week 6. St. Brown’s absence leaves 26.7% of Detroit’s targets up for grabs. Josh Reynolds is the best bet to lead Lions WRs in targets today, with Kalif Raymond, Jameson Williams, and Marvin Jones behind him. TE Sam LaPorta should also benefit from St. Brown’s absence. But we’re expecting a run-heavy attack from the Lions today against a leaky Panthers run defense.
