The Bears selected Notre Dame TE Cole Kmet in the 2nd round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Kmet goes 6’6, 262 pounds and tested as a 77th percentile athlete at the Combine, where he ran a 4.70-second 40-yard dash with a 37-inch vertical. He played both baseball and football for Notre Dame, emerging as the Irish’s top TE this past season. Kmet hauled in 43 balls for 515 yards and 6 scores, ranking 9th in yards per route run and 6th in Pro Football Focus’ receiving grade among 18 of this class’ top TEs. He doesn’t strike us as a high-upside fantasy prospect, and this isn’t a very inspiring landing spot. Kmet figures to sit behind Jimmy Graham this year but could take over as Chicago’s lead TE by 2021.

The Bears on Monday reached a 2-year, $16 million deal with TE Jimmy Graham, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Graham is a surprising addition at a somewhat surprising cost. His playing time and production fell off late last season, and he'll turn 34 midway through the coming campaign. Chicago also still has TE Trey Burton under contract, though he could be a cut candidate. The Bears' TE corps looks like a situation to avoid for 2020.

The Packers have released TE Jimmy Graham, saving $8 million against the 2020 salary cap. It was an easy decision with Graham just about out of gas. The 33-year-old's 38 catches and 447 yards this past season were both his lowest marks since his 2010 rookie campaign. He ranked 23rd in yards per route run and 26th in Pro Football Focus' receiving grades among 27 TEs that saw 50+ targets. We'll see where Graham lands on the free-agent market, but he's unlikely to have a fantasy impact. In Green Bay, meanwhile, the door is open for 2019 third-round TE Jace Sternberger to capture the lead job. Highlight him as an upside target in the later rounds of early best-ball drafts.

The Packers are activating rookie TE Jace Sternberger off IR. The 3rd-round pick returns to a position that has found veteran Jimmy Graham disappointing for much of the season. Sternberger is worth stashing in TE-premium formats such as the FFPC. We'll see if he can carve out a meaningful role over the 2nd half of the season.

The severity of the injury will determine how long Adams is sidelined. But as we saw last night, turf toe is almost impossible to play through. Adams' absence would leave Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Geronimo Allison as Green Bay's top 2 WRs. Darrius Shepard and Allen Lazard filled in for Adams on Thursday night. Jake Kumerow is a better bet than either of those guys but is dealing with a shoulder injury. TE Jimmy Graham would also project to see more volume with Adams out. He racked up 9 targets last night.

The Packers added Texas A&M TE Jace Sternberger in the 3rd round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Sternberger bounced from Kansas to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M before finally arriving at A&M this past year. His lone season as an Aggie was a big one. Sternberger led his team with 48 catches, 832 yards and 10 TDs, averaging a massive 17.3 yards per catch. He ranked 8th in this TE class in yards per route run and earned Pro Football Focus’ highest receiving grade among TEs in 2018. Sternberger disappointed at the Combine with a 22nd percentile SPARQ score. But the 6’4, 251-pounder looks much more athletic than that on tape. He drew a Travis Kelce comparison from the great Greg Cosell. Sternberger will open his career behind Jimmy Graham in Green Bay but could emerge as the Packers’ lead pass-catching TE as early as 2020.

Packers TE Jimmy Graham suffered a broken thumb in Thursday night's loss to the Seahawks, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The team is still trying to determine how much time Graham will miss, but this is obviously a significant injury for a guy who makes his living catching passes. We'd try to hang on to Graham in fantasy for now, but he's droppable if you're desperate for a roster spot. Lance Kendricks will step in as Green Bay's lead pass-catching TE for however long Graham is out but isn't a great fantasy option.

We'll watch to see if this is just a rest day or something more. It's obviously worrisome given Graham's recent knee history.

"Jimmy can go from paper football to real football as easy as any player I’ve been around. He really understands coverages and knows how to attack defenses as the play unfolds.” We haven't heard much buzz on Graham this month, but he hauled in an 8-yard TD from Rodgers in the 2nd preseason game. And it sounds like Rodgers is happy with how Graham has settled into the offense. The 31-year-old is certainly past his prime, but Graham could easily catch 8+ TDs in this passing attack.

TE Jimmy Graham has agree to a deal with the Packers, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Despite a sluggish final quarter of the season, Graham rebounded for 10 TDs and top-7 finishes across fantasy football formats last year. Green Bay certainly won't hurt his TD potential. Volume could be on his side, too, after Jordy Nelson's 2017 decline and a tough couple of years for Randall Cobb. Of course, Graham's ADP will also likely be top 5 among TEs now that he's teaming up with Aaron Rodgers. We'll see exactly where he lands on that front and in our 2018 projections. This looks like a good opportunity to look into selling the 31-year-old Graham in dynasty leagues.
