The Jaguars released WR Laquon Treadwell. He was shoehorned into a significant role over the 2nd half of last season but remained a replacement-level player. Treadwell's release increases the chances WR Laviska Shenault sticks on Jacksonville's roster. But Christian Kirk, Marvin Jones and Zay Jones are locked in as the top 3 WRs.
WR Laquon Treadwell re-signed with the Jaguars. The former 1st-rounder had 1 of his better stretches as a pro over the 2nd half of last season, averaging 4.4 catches and 57.9 yards across the final 7 games. It doesn't look like he drew much interest on the open market, though, and returns to a Jaguars team that previously added WRs Christian Kirk and Zay Jones to Marvin Jones, Laviska Shenault and Jamal Agnew. We'll see how the WR room shakes out this summer, but Treadwell isn't a recommended target in early best-ball drafts.
Jaguars WR Laviska Shenault has been placed on the COVID list. He'll miss Sunday's game vs. the Jets. Shenault has been a major disappointment this season but has still averaged 6.6 targets over the last 5 games. His absence is a slight boost for WR Marvin Jones, WR Laquon Treadwell and TE James O'Shaughnessy.
The Jaguars fired HC Urban Meyer. He didn't even last a year in Jacksonville. Meyer's performance was embarrassing both on and off the field. Darrell Bevell -- who has 15 years of experience as an OC -- will take over as interim HC. Meyer's departure can only be good news for Jacksonville's offense, although we still wouldn't go too crazy investing in Jaguars down the stretch.
The Falcons have signed WR Laquon Treadwell to a 1-year deal. The Vikings' 1st-round bust totaled just 701 yards and 2 scores over 4 seasons in Minnesota. We'll see what new the surroundings do, but don't bank on Treadwell becoming a fantasy factor. He figures to battle with Russell Gage for #3 WR duties behind Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley.
Vikings WR Stefon Diggs (rib) is inactive for today’s game against the Lions. He’ll get a Week 10 bye to heal up. Laquon Treadwell and Aldrick Robinson figure to serve as Minnesota’s #2 and #3 WRs today, but both are just fantasy fliers. Adam Thielen should soak up a boatload of targets.
The Vikings are set to release WR Kendall Wright, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Wright lost the battle for 3rd WR duties to Laquon Treadwell. When Minnesota goes 3-wide this season, it'll most often be Treadwell and Stefon Diggs on the outside with Adam Thielen in the slot.
According to 247Sports, Vikings WR Laquon Treadwell has been running with the 1st team during OTAs and exhibiting more confidence than he did through his 1st 2 seasons. The former 1st-round pick has totaled just 21 pro receptions to date and stands a long way from fantasy relevance. But he could secure the #3 WR gig behind Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs. Opting for Treadwell in that spot ahead of newly signed veteran Kendall Wright would allow Minnesota to run Thielen more from the slot, where he has performed well over the past 2 years. Wright, on the other hand, is almost exclusively a slot receiver.
Vikings WR Laquon Treadwell missed Thursday night's preseason opener with a thigh injury. It's the 1st we've heard of it, but insider Chris Tomasson reports that Treadwell "missed more than a week of practice" with the issue. It's certainly not what he needs after a disappointing rookie season that included a broken finger, pulled hamstring and sprained ankle. There remains opportunity for Treadwell in Minnesota's WR corps, but he's no more than a late-round flier at this point.
Injuries played a big part in Vikings WR Laquon Treadwell's disappointing rookie year. Those close to him believe he still wasn't fully over his 2015 broken fibula and dislocated ankle when last season kicked off. "When I was working him out last year, I could tell he was walking and running with a limp," Treadwell's trainer, David Robinson, said. "After every drill, he'd be rolling his ankle around trying to work it out, because he was stiff. I kind of knew in the back of my head he wasn't ready to play last year." Treadwell also dealt with a broken finger, pulled hamstring and sprained ankle as a rookie. He's healthy now, though, and has been running alongside Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen with the 1st-team offense in OTAs. "He looks healthy," CB Xavier Rhodes said. "Coming out of his breaks good, moving his weight really well, turning his hips when he needs to turn his hips. Breaking down, not taking too many steps in his break. He's turned around tremendously." Turning just 22 in June, Treadwell is certainly capable of bouncing back in his 2nd go-around.
The Vikings have liked what they've seen from WR Laquon Treadwell so far this offseason. "He’s had a great, in my opinion, five-and-a-half weeks," OC Pat Shurmur said. "He came back and he was really on point with what he’s supposed to be doing mentally. He’s been out here competing and doing a nice job running routes and catching the ball. Understanding where he fits in the running game and who to block. To this point, we’ve been really pleased with his progress based on a year ago." Performing well in May doesn't mean much, but any positive buzz on Treadwell is noteworthy after a disastrous rookie year. Minnesota added WR Michael Floyd earlier this month, but Treadwell has been running alongside Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen with the 1st-team offense so far. We'll see if he can hang on to that spot.
The Vikings signed WR Michael Floyd to a 1-year deal worth $1.5 million. He can reach $6 million total with incentives, per ESPN. Floyd completely tanked on the field in 2016 and was cut from the Cardinals after he was arrested in December for DUI. The 27-year-old ended up serving jail time, and it’s quite possible he’ll receive further discipline from the league. Floyd’s also currently under house arrest and won’t be able to join the Vikings until after June minicamps. In Minnesota, he’ll battle Adam Thielen and Laquon Treadwell for snaps behind #1 Stefon Diggs. The Vikings just drafted a pair of WRs, too (Rodney Adams and Stacy Coley).
The Vikings signed WR Adam Thielen to a 4-year, $19.2 million extension. He was a restricted free agent this offseason and set to hit unrestricted free agency next offseason. The new deal is a reward for a breakout 2016 campaign that saw Thielen rack up 69 catches, 967 yards and 5 TDs. Of course, a huge chunk of that production -- 12 catches, 202 yards and 2 TDs -- came in a Week 16 explosion in Green Bay. Thielen reached 70 yards in just 3 of his other 15 games. The contract extension is a sign, though, that Minnesota sees him as a key part of its passing game going forward. Thielen, Stefon Diggs and Laquon Treadwell will battle for standing on the depth chart this summer.
Vikings WR Stefon Diggs (hip) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Bears. He'll be held out after playing at less than 100% for much of the season. WR Laquon Treadwell (ankle) is also doubtful, and WR Charles Johnson (knee) is questionable. WR Adam Thielen and TE Kyle Rudolph should dominate Minnesota's targets.
Vikings HC Mike Zimmer said Monday that rookie WR Laquon Treadwell is "kind of catching up to the NFL a little bit now," according to ESPN's Ben Goessling. "His quickness, his stops and starts, his acceleration [are better.] He's a diligent, hard worker. He'll be a good player." Treadwell has played more lately, though he didn't draw a single target in the Thanksgiving Day loss at Detroit that found WR Stefon Diggs inactive. Don't count on any fantasy impact from the 1st-round pick this season, but Treadwell remains a dynasty hold -- especially after a highly disappointing debut has knocked down his perceived value.
Vikings WR Stefon Diggs (knee) is inactive for today's game against the Lions. Adam Thielen, Cordarrelle Patterson and Laquon Treadwell expected to serve as Vikings' top 3 WRs. Thielen is the best fantasy bet and on the lower-end WR3 radar.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms that Vikings WR Stefon Diggs (knee) is not expected to play against the Lions today. Rapoport adds that WR Laquon Treadwell is expected to make his 1st start. The rookie has played just 35 snaps this season, catching his only target for 15 yards. We're curious to see what Treadwell does with a bigger role, but he's nothing more than a DFS tournament flier for Week 12. Adam Thielen remains the best bet among Vikings WRs.
Vikings WR Laquon Treadwell is a healthy scratch for today's game against the Panthers. The rookie clearly isn't making much progress in his push for an offensive role. He's not worth rostering in redraft leagues.
