The Eagles have traded for RB Jordan Howard, giving a conditional 6th-round pick that could become a 5th-rounder, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. So even the worst-case scenario here for Philadelphia would mean giving a pick in the round in which Chicago drafted Howard. The 24-year-old -- until November -- gives the Eagles a younger player to fulfill a role likely similar to what LeGarrette Blount and Jay Ajayi played the past couple of years. At the very least, Howard looks like Philly's best bet near the goal line. We'll see if the Eagles add anything else to the position in the NFL Draft. In Chicago, meanwhile, RB Mike Davis appears ready to take over Howard's vacated role and looks like an option late in the single-digit rounds of best-ball drafts.

The Bears have added free-agent RB Mike Davis. The former Seahawk was sneaky-good last year, averaging 4.6 yards per carry on 112 attempts and posting a 34-214-1 receiving line. Pro Football Focus graded him 25th among 62 RBs -- notably 12 spots ahead of new teammate Jordan Howard. Howard has been the subject of trade whispers, although we're not sure Davis' addition is a precursor. We'll see.

Update: Davis' deal is for 2 years and $6 million with a max value of $7 million, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Seahawks RB Chris Carson injured his finger in the 4th quarter of Sunday’s game against the 49ers. He headed back to the locker room for x-rays. We’ll pass along an update on Carson when we get one. His absence would leave Seattle’s backfield to Rashaad Penny and Mike Davis.

Update: HC Pete Carroll said after the game that Carson dislocated his index finger. He got it stitched up and is expected to be fine.

Seahawks OC Brian Schottenheimer said Tuesday that RB Chris Carson will start Thursday night's game against the Packers. That means absolutely nothing other than Carson being on the field for Seattle's first offensive snap. But Carson was operating as the clear lead ball-carrier before missing most of Week 9 and all of Week 10 with a hip injury. Consider him the best bet for carries on Thursday night, but RBs Mike Davis and Rashaad Penny also figure to remain plenty involved.

Seahawks RB Chris Carson (hip) is on track to return for Thursday night's game against the Packers, HC Pete Carroll said. Carson has been operating as Seattle's lead back but will now need to contend with rookie Rashaad Penny's breakout Week 10 -- in addition to Mike Davis. The crowd leaves all 3 of these guys as risk/reward RB3s for Week 11.

Seahawks RB Chris Carson (hip) is inactive for today’s game against the Rams. Mike Davis should serve as Seattle’s lead back and is an upside RB2 in fantasy lineups. RBs Rashaad Penny and C.J. Prosise are also active for the ‘Hawks.

Seahawks RB Chris Carson (hip) is not expected to play against the Rams later today, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Schefter adds that a final decision won't be made until pregame warmups. We'll get Carson's official status around 3 pm ET, but he should obviously be on fantasy benches. RB Mike Davis should serve as Seattle's lead back today and is a solid RB2 in fantasy lineups.

Seahawks RB Chris Carson (hip) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Rams. He didn't practice all week, but HC Pete Carroll suggested Friday that Carson will be a game-time decision. We’ll look for another update on Sunday morning, but we might not find out his official status until 3 pm ET. Mike Davis will serve as Seattle’s lead back if Carson can’t play.

Seahawks RB Chris Carson (hip) didn't practice on Wednesday. Don't expect him to practice much, if at all, this week after aggravating that hip issue on Sunday. The best-case scenario probably has him as a game-time decision for this weekend's tilt with the Rams. Mike Davis will serve as Seattle's lead back if Carson can't go.

6:11pm EST 11/5/18

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll described RB Chris Carson as "sore" after Sunday's loss to the Chargers. “I talked to Chris and it was about like it was last week,” Carroll said of Carson's troublesome hip. “He’s sore, but he was sore last week and he made it through. We’ll have to wait and see and just go day to day with him. We’ll take care of him earlier in the week and see how he rounds out later in the week.” It sounds like Carson didn't suffer any new structural damage and has a shot to play against the Rams on Sunday. We'll monitor his status throughout the week. Mike Davis will serve as Seattle's lead back if Carson is sidelined.

Seahawks RB Chris Carson aggravated his hip injury in the 1st half of Sunday's game against the Chargers and is doubtful to return. He carried 8 times for 40 yards before exiting. Mike Davis will operate as Seattle's lead back the rest of the way.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Seahawks RB Chris Carson is a game-time decision for today's clash with the Chargers. The team reportedly needs to test his injured hip before the game to see whether he's ready to go. If Carson sits, Mike Davis becomes a viable fantasy starter. The 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff means that some fantasy owners might need to look in a different direction for their Week 9 lineups.

UPDATE: Ian Rapoport says the Seahawks are "optimistic" that Carson plays. So keep that in mind as you decide between waiting for Carson and playing an earlier option.

Seahawks RB Chris Carson (hip) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Chargers. He was added to the injury report on Thursday and limited again in Friday’s practice. “A little groin thing he's feeling,” HC Pete Carroll said Friday. “Just got to make sure on gameday he's feeling okay.” The 4:05 pm ET kickoff here makes this a tricky situation. We’ll look for an update on Carson’s status Sunday morning. If he can’t go, Mike Davis would be a better fantasy bet than Rashaad Penny.

Seahawks RB Chris Carson (hip) isn’t listed on the final injury report. He figures to return as Seattle’s lead back, but HC Pete Carroll said earlier this week that RB Mike Davis has earned a role going forward. That makes Carson just a RB3 or flex play vs. the Rams.

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said Monday that Mike Davis has earned a spot in the team's RB "rotation." That'd be alongside Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny. Unless Carson misses more time with his hip injury, this will be a backfield to avoid in Week 5.

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll expects RB Chris Carson (hip) to return for Sunday's game against the Rams. Carroll is always optimistic about his injured players, but Carson was a surprising Week 4 inactive after putting 3 limited practices. We'll monitor his status this week. It'll be interesting to see how Seattle divvies backfield work after RB Mike Davis ripped off 101 yards and 2 scores in yesterday's win over the Cardinals.

The Seahawks selected San Diego State RB Rashaad Penny with the 27th overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft. Wow — this is the 1st real shocker of the night. Not only did Seattle use a 1st-rounder on Penny, but they selected him ahead of Derrius Guice, Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. Penny had a massive 2017 campaign, racking up 2,248 yards and 23 TDs on a 7.8 yards-per-carry average. That followed 7.5 yards per carry on 136 totes playing behind Donnel Pumphrey in 2016. The knocks against Penny are in the passing game. He totaled just 42 catches over the past 3 years (including 19 last year) and struggles in pass protection. The 1st-round investment likely means Seattle views Penny as a 3-down back, though. And he doesn't have much competition in a backfield that includes only Chris Carson, C.J. Prosise, Mike Davis and J.D. McKissic.

The Seahawks on Thursday reached a deal with RB Mike Davis. It's somewhat surprising after they elected not to tender him as a restricted free agent, but Davis re-joins an open backfield situation. He flashed a bit among 3 games of 15+ carries last year but should face plenty of competition for touches this season. That should include a healthier C.J. Prosise -- if we finally get that -- plus at least 1 guy not currently on the roster (draft or free agency).

Seahawks RB Mike Davis (ribs) put in a full practice on Thursday after being limited on Wednesday. He's good to go for this weekend's game against the Rams. Davis has carried 31 times for 130 yards (4.2 YPC) and caught 5 balls for 36 more in his last 2 outings.
