Lions HC Dan Campbell said Tuesday that RB D'Andre Swift will play against the 49ers this weekend. There's still a question of just how much action Swift will be able to handle after missing most of August with a groin issue. Consider him a risk/reward RB2 for the opener.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift had a good practice on Tuesday, according to The Athletic's Chris Burke. "Broke a long run, cut well," Burke tweeted. "Made a *great* jump cut to turn a short run off the right side into a long TD and didn't seem at all hesitant between the tackles. A step forward." This comes on the same day that HC Dan Campbell conceded that he's not sure what kind of shape Swift will be in for Week 1 after missing most of August with a groin issue. Swift will be 1 of the more important players to monitor over the next couple of weeks.

The groin issue for Lions RB D'Andre Swift has been downplayed throughout camp, but HC Dan Campbell says he doesn't yet know what the injury will mean for the regular-season opener. "We don't know if he's gonna be there," Campbell said, via Chris Burke of The Athletic. "We don't know, even if he is, how much we're going to get out of him." Campbell said the team would work him hard in practice Tuesday to test his conditioning. We'll watch for further indications of Detroit's plan leading up to Week 1. In the meantime, Jamaal Williams remains a high-upside play in low-RB3 to RB4 range of fantasy football drafts.

Lions RB D'Andre Swift has been hampered by a sore groin for the past few weeks. But he "took a heavy load of reps Thursday and said afterward he felt good to be back," according to Tim Twentyman of the team's official website. It sounds like the Lions have simply been playing it cautiously with their lead back. We'll continue to keep an eye on Swift. But, barring a setback, he should be a full-go for the start of the season.

Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports that Lions RB D'Andre Swift has "missed significant practice time while nursing a sore groin." According to Meinke, Swift has been on the field "almost every day" but generally sits out 7-on-7 and full-team work. Detroit clearly isn't too worried about the situation, or the team would have Swift sitting out altogether. But it'll certainly be an issue to monitor going forward. The Lions also watched rookie RB Jermar Jefferson leave Monday's practice with a leg injury. Meinke reports that Jefferson has been "having a nice camp." We'll see how long he's out and what role the rookie fills in preseason games.

The Seattle Times reports that the Seahawks plan to utilize TEs more in the new offense. Not surprisingly, HC Pete Carroll sounds excited about what the team has there. "The tight end spot is really competitive because we don't know who's going to take the bulk of the plays," Carroll says. "We really like the position a lot. We're really fired up about Gerald Everett. We really think he can do a ton, but we're not sure how to mix those guys yet. We've got to find that out as we go through. Colby Parkinson looks exciting too for playing time, and we know Will's in there. So it's a really nice, competitive spot." We're betting on Everett as the lead receiver here for his familiarity with new OC Shane Waldron -- from their time with the Rams -- and receiving ability. The situation will be worth watching through summer, though.

Bears HC Matt Nagy said Wednesday that he anticipates TE Cole Kmet's role growing in 2021. His playing time spiked late in his rookie year, with Kmet registering a 70+% snap rate in each of final 8 games (including playoffs). But the production didn't follow. Kmet averaged just 5 targets, 3.1 catches and 22.5 yards per game over that stretch. There's plenty of room for those numbers to grow this year, especially in Chicago gets better QB play from Justin Fields and/or Andy Dalton.

Lions OC Anthony Lynn has given us a little more info on the plan for splitting backfield touches. "If you go in and you're balling, you're going to stay in," Lynn said this week, according to Pro Football Talk. Lynn added that his approach will be to get the ball into the hands of his top playmakers, pointing out that RBs can earn receiving work in addition to carries. We'll see how this situation plays out, including whether the Lions act on their interest in free-agent RB Todd Gurley. Early indications, however, point to potential for weekly fantasy frustration.

Rams TE Gerald Everett (back) is questionable for this weekend’s game against the Eagles. He was a full participant in Friday’s practice, so we’re expecting him to play. Everett figures to need a Tyler Higbee injury to be a fantasy option this season.

Rams TE Gerald Everett (knee) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. That puts him on track to return for Saturday night's game against the 49ers. Tyler Higbee leads all TEs in targets, catches and yards over the last 3 weeks -- but note that Everett out-targeted Higbee 59 to 33 over the Rams' first 11 games. We'd bet on Higbee sticking as the lead TE in Week 16, but Everett's return certainly adds risk to his outlook.

The Titans have released K Cairo Santos. The move isn't surprising after Santos missed 4 FG tries in Sunday's loss to the Bills. That included misses from 33 and 36 yards out. We'll see who gets the next shot to fill in for Ryan Succop, who is on IR.

The Seahawks selected Miami RB Travis Homer in the 6th round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The 5'10, 201-pounder helped himself with a 4.48-second 40 time at the Combine, adding a 39.5-inch vertical to earn a 79th percentile SPARQ score. Homer never reached 1,000 yards across 3 college season but averaged 6.0 yards per carry for his career and caught 37 balls over the past 2 years. He offers some change-of-pace potential as a pro.
