New England Patriots Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Titans TE Jonnu Smith (ankle) progressed to a full practice on Thursday. He's on track to play against the Steelers this weekend. Despite the ankle injury and that tough matchup, Smith remains safely inside the top 10 TEs for Week 7.

Titans TE Jonnu Smith (ankle) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. It's relatively good news after he was knocked out of last week's win over the Texans. Smith seemingly has a shot to play against the Steelers this weekend. We'll get another update on his status tomorrow.

Titans TE Jonnu Smith has a "minor" ankle sprain and is considered questionable for Sunday's game against the Steelers, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. It's relatively good news. Smith owners should line up a replacement for Week 7, but it doesn't sound like he'll be out beyond that.

Titans TE Jonnu Smith was knocked out of Sunday's game against the Texans with a 3rd-quarter ankle injury. TE Anthony Firkser had a big game in his place. We'll pass along an update on Smith when we get one.

The Dolphins have ruled out LB Kyle Van Noy (groin) for today's game against the Jets. DE Shaq Lawson (shoulder) is active but not a strong IDP option.

The Patriots re-opened team facilities Saturday morning after shutting down Friday and canceling practice following a positive COVID test. All signs point to New England's game against the Broncos happening as planned Sunday.

Dolphins LB Kyle Van Noy (groin) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Jets. Van Noy missed Wednesday's practice but returned for limited workouts Thursday and Friday. We'll check his status Sunday morning. DE Shaq Lawson (shoulder) is also questionable. He put in limited practices all week.

The Patriots had at least 1 and possibly 2 COVID tests come back positive on Friday, ESPN's Mike Reiss and Field Yates report. So the Patriots-Broncos game -- which was already pushed back a week -- is again in jeopardy. We'll continue to update this situation as we learn more.

Patriots QB Cam Newton has been activated from the COVID list. He'll return for Sunday's game against the Broncos. Newton was reportedly asymptomatic, but we're still curious to see if he shows any ill-effects from the virus. It adds some risk to Newton's Week 6 outlook, but he sits safely inside QB1 territory in our rankings. Newton's return is a significant upgrade for WRs Julian Edelman and N'Keal Harry.

Patriots CB Stephon Gilmore has tested positive for COVID, ESPN's Field Yates reports. Gilmore joins QB Cam Newton and practice squad DT Bill Murray on New England's COVID list. The Patriots' game against the Broncos this Sunday is now seemingly in jeopardy. Stay tuned.

The Patriots have placed RB Sony Michel on IR with his quad injury. He's out for at least the next 3 games but is expected to return "relatively quickly" after that, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Still, Michel is not a must-hold on fantasy rosters. His absence gives Damien Harris -- and perhaps Rex Burkhead -- a shot to take over as New England's lead back.

The Patriots have activated RB Damien Harris (hand) from IR ahead of tonight's game against the Chiefs. Harris "will get carries" with Sony Michel (quad) sidelined, per Rapoport. We're excited to see Harris after his buzzy summer, but he's only in play as a DFS flier for now.

The Patriots have downgraded RB Sony Michel (quad) to out for tonight's game against the Chiefs. That should leave Rex Burkhead, James White, J.J. Taylor and Damien Harris as the top 4 RBs. It's tough to know how New England will divvy up playing time, especially with Harris yet to play in a game this season. All are in play for various fantasy formats to close out Week 4, though. We'd play Burkhead first among the group for season-long leagues.

Patriots QB Cam Newton has been added to the COVID list and is out for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. Fantasy owners should plan on him missing multiple games. No other Patriots have been added to the list as of now. New England will turn to QB Jarrett Stidham vs. Kansas City -- a significant downgrade to the offense. Expect a run-heavy game plan from New England.

Update: The Patriots will start QB Brian Hoyer vs. the Chiefs, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Hoyer is at least more experienced than Stidham but is still a downgrade for the Patriots' skill-position guys.

Patriots RB Sony Michel (quad) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. Michel's media availability was reportedly canceled, which sometimes suggests the player is in danger of missing the upcoming game. We'll look for an update on Michel on Sunday morning. Patriots-Chiefs doesn't kick off until 4:25 pm ET.

Patriots RB Damien Harris (pinky) was activated from IR and practiced on Wednesday. He's seemingly on track to be available for this weekend's game vs. the Chiefs. New England has a logjam at RB with Harris joining Sony Michel, James White, Rex Burkhead and J.J. Taylor. We'll see how it plays out, but it's probably a situation to avoid in Week 4 fantasy lineups.

Patriots RB James White practiced on Wednesday. He's missed the past 2 games after his parents were in an accident, killing his father and leaving his mother in critical condition. White will presumably play against the Chiefs this weekend. His return takes a bite out of RB Rex Burkhead's appeal.

Patriots RB James White is out for Sunday’s game against the Raiders as he continues to grieve the death of his father last weekend. With White out last week, RB Rex Burkhead played 71% of New England’s offensive snaps and tallied 6 carries and 6 targets. The Patriots’ game plan might be completely different this Sunday, but Burkhead is at least a RB3 or flex consideration in PPR leagues.

Patriots RB James White is a surprise healthy scratch for tonight's game against the Seahawks. Andy Slater of Fox Sports 640 in South Florida reports that White's father was killed today in a car crash that also has left his mother in critical condition. White's absence from the lineup will leave opportunities for Rex Burkhead and rookie J.J. Taylor.
