Jacory Croskey-Merritt Ready For Week 1

Commanders RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt (groin) was limited in practice all week but is not listed on the final injury report. He’ll play vs. the Eagles on Sunday, but that matchup leaves him as a low-end RB3 in fantasy lineups.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt Back From Groin Injury

Commanders RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt was on the practice field Tuesday, according to insider Ben Standig. JCM missed some time with a groin injury but is now on track to be ready for Week 1. We expect him to open the season as Washington's lead ball carrier, ceding passing-down work to RB Rachaad White. You'll find Croskey-Merritt as a target in our latest draft strategy guide.

Washington Adds Jerome Ford to Committee of Meh

The Commanders have agreed to a one-year deal with RB Jerome Ford. The former fifth-round pick spent the past four seasons in Cleveland. His high point came in 2023, with a 204-813-4 rushing line and 44 receptions for 319 yards and 5 TDs on 63 targets. That was the year Nick Chubb went down with a Week 2 knee injury. Ford dipped to 104 carries in 2024 but maintained a nice receiving role, leading the backfield in targets, catches, and yards. He fell behind Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson on last year's depth chart before hitting the open market.

Chris Rodriguez Reclaims Backfield Lead in Return

Commanders RB Chris Rodriguez Jr. returned from a one-game injury to easily lead his backfield in playing time, opportunities, and production in Saturday's loss to the Eagles. Rodriguez played 28 of 54 snaps, vs. 15 for Jeremy McNichols and 11 for Jacory Croskey-Merritt. He logged 63 yards and a TD on 15 carries, nearly doubling his nearest teammate in carries and accounting for 70% of the team's rushing yardage. Croskey-Merritt carried eight times for 25 yards and a TD. McNichols rushed only once for 3 yards.

Chris Rodriguez A Game-Time Decision For Week 15

Commanders RB Chris Rodriguez (groin) will test his injury in warmups before deciding whether he can play vs. the Giants today, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Rodriguez got in just two limited practices this week and is listed as questionable. We'll get Washington's inactives around 11:30 am ET, but Rodriguez will carry elevated risk in fantasy lineups if he does suit up. If not, RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt would be the favorite to lead the team in carries, with RB Jeremy McNichols also potentially picking up more work.

        Chris Rodriguez Hurts Shoulder

Commanders RB Chris Rodriguez suffered a shoulder injury in the second half of Sunday's game vs. the Lions and is officially questionable to return. He got the start in this one and was splitting carries with RB Jacory Croskey-Merrritt. We'll update Rodriguez's status when we know more.

No Deebo Samuel for Commanders at Dallas

Washington has downgraded WR Deebo Samuel to out for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. He's not even traveling with the team, thanks to the heel injury that he played through in last Monday night's loss to the Bears. Samuel still led the team's pass catchers in playing time for that contest.

Chris Rodriguez Dealing With Calf Injury

Commanders RB Chris Rodriguez (calf) has missed the first two practices of the week, putting his availability for Monday night's game vs. the Bears in doubt. Rodriguez has seemingly fallen clear behind RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt in the pecking order and shouldn't be in your Week 6 fantasy plans. But his absence would make Croskey-Merritt an even stronger fantasy start. We'll see how Rodriguez is listed on the final injury report on Saturday.

What's The Austin Ekeler Injury Mean For Washington's Backfield?

The Commanders believe RB Austin Ekeler tore his right Achilles in Thursday night's loss to the Packers, according to multiple reports. That's what it looked like when he went down late in the fourth quarter of a game that was already decided. Ekeler is undergoing additional testing on Friday to confirm the diagnosis. It'd be a season-ending injury and could threaten Ekeler's career. He's 30 and set to hit free agency this offseason. What's his absence mean for Washington's backfield going forward? Let's dig in.
