Jonathan Taylor OK Despite Downgraded Offense

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor survived with some fantasy value in Sunday's first game since the season-ending injury to QB Daniel Jones. Taylor ran for 87 yards on 25 carries and caught three of four targets for 14 more. Taylor's 3.5 yards per rush fell right in line with the 3.5 Seattle has allowed to the position for the season. Taylor's 13.1 PPR points marked the sixth-largest total for a QB against the Seahawks this season.

Daniel Jones Added To Thursday's Injury Report

        11:11pm UTC 11/20/25

Colts QB Daniel Jones was added to the injury report and limited in practice on Thursday with a calf. "Sounds like the Colts are being cautious," NFL Network's Ian Rapoport tweeted. "Still worth keeping an eye on..." We'll certainly be keeping an eye on this one. With QB Anthony Richardson on IR, QB Riley Leonard is Indianapolis' backup. He'd be a huge downgrade for the offense.

Anthony Richardson Ready To Re-Join QB Battle

        6:40pm UTC 7/17/25

Colts QB Anthony Richardson is believed to be recovered from the right shoulder issue he dealt with last month, according to ESPN's Stephen Holder. Richardson missed two weeks of June minicamp with an aggravation of the AC joint injury that ended his 2023 season. The rest has seemingly alleviated the issue, though. Richardson has been "throwing the ball with velocity" for weeks, per Holder, although it's still possible that he'll be on a pitch count early in camp.

Anthony Richardson Sidelined With Shoulder Injury

        4:55pm UTC 6/5/25

Colts QB Anthony Richardson is dealing with a right shoulder injury and won't participate in next week's minicamp, HC Shane Steichen said Thursday. Steichen called it an aggravation of the AC joint injury that ended Richardson's 2023 season. He had surgery then but is not expected to need surgery this time, according to Steichen.

Jonathan Taylor Will Play Week 8

        8:51pm UTC 10/25/24

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (ankle) is not listed on the final injury report for Sunday’s game vs. the Texans. He practiced all week, including full workouts on Thursday and Friday. It looks like Taylor will be at least close to 100% for this one. The matchup is tough against Houston’s third-ranked RB defense, but Taylor belongs back in most fantasy lineups for Week 8.

Jonathan Taylor Expected To Avoid IR

        8:31pm UTC 9/30/24

Colts HC Shane Steichen said Monday that the team isn't planning to place RB Jonathan Taylor (ankle) on short-term IR "as of now," according to insider Mike Chappell. Taylor is dealing with what NFL Network's Ian Rapoport called a "mild" high-ankle sprain. It's notably the same ankle that required surgery in January 2023. Consider it good news if Taylor misses fewer than four games with this injury. We're not expecting him to play vs. the Jaguars on Sunday but will track his progress throughout the week. Taylor's absence would leave Trey Sermon as Indianapolis' lead back.

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor suffered an ankle injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Steelers. He's officially questionable to return. Stay tuned for an update. RB Trey Sermon took over for Taylor.

Zack Moss out for Week 16

        12:38pm UTC 12/23/23

Colts RB Zack Moss (forearm) has been downgraded to out for Sunday's game vs. the Falcons. That leaves only RBs Trey Sermon and Tyler Goodson behind Jonathan Taylor. JT carries some added risk coming off his thumb injury -- but there's a good chance that he dominates work against Atlanta. He's climbing the Week 16 RB Rankings.

Jonathan Taylor will play Week 16, Zack Moss questionable

        3:51pm UTC 12/22/23

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (thumb) put in a full week of practice and isn’t listed on the final injury report for Sunday’s game vs. the Falcons. Considering he’s coming back from a thumb injury, Taylor should be ready for a full workload – barring any kind of ball-security issues during the game. That’s especially true with RB Zack Moss (forearm) having missed practice all week. He’s listed as questionable.

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (thumb) was listed as a full participant on Wednesday's injury report. The team didn't actually practice, so it's an estimation. But this seemingly puts Taylor on track to return for this weekend's game vs. the Falcons. RB Zack Moss (foreman) did not practice on Wednesday. We'll update this backfield again on Thursday.

Jonathan Taylor uncertain for Week 13 and beyond with thumb injury

        11:34am UTC 11/28/23

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Colts RB Jonathan Taylor suffered a thumb injury in Sunday's win over the Buccaneers that "puts his status in doubt going forward." Taylor reportedly played the entire second half after suffering the injury. But he's now headed for further evaluation "with all options considered." We'll obviously be watching this one closely. In the meantime, Zack Moss deserves to be claimed anywhere he might be available. You can find more potential insurance pickups among our Week 13 Waiver Wire Pickups and via your Free Agent Finder.

Zack Moss plans to play Week 8

        9:41am UTC 10/29/23

Colts RB Zack Moss (heel, elbow) "plans to play" vs. the Saints today, "barring no setbacks in pregame warmups," according to insider Jordan Schultz. It sounds like Moss' heel injury is a bigger issue than the elbow. It's certainly possible that he cedes even more work to RB Jonathan Taylor today. Consider Moss a risky RB3 or flex play.

        Jonathan Taylor is back

        1:34pm UTC 8/14/23

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Colts RB Jonathan Taylor is back with the team. "He remains on PUP and his stance has not changed," Rapoport says. "But he has returned." The report says Taylor left the team for "additional rehab on his ankle." If that's the whole truth, it doesn't bode well for his injury risk headed into the season. Taylor gets a "high risk" designation from our Injury Predictor. Of course, he also comes with a high fantasy ceiling if fully healthy and should operate as a workhorse. Taylor has moved down our RB rankings through this saga. He's an upside pick in Round 3, though.

Jonathan Taylor still rehabbing ankle (allegedly)

        1:36pm UTC 8/8/23

Colts HC Shane Steichen said Tuesday that RB Jonathan Taylor is still working his way back from right ankle surgery early in the offseason. Steichen wouldn't say if Taylor, after a trade request, is rehabbing at the team facilities. And he also wouldn't say whether Taylor will practice in training camp. “Yeah, I’d like to see that," Steichen said. "We’ll see how it all plays out though.” It'd be a concern if Taylor truly wasn't 100% recovered from surgery that happened over six months ago. But it's possible that he's just milking the injury amidst this squabble with the team. We'll continue to keep a close eye on the situation.

Jonathan Taylor 'never reported back pain'

Jonathan Taylor might move to non-football-injury list

        8:18pm UTC 7/30/23

The Colts are "considering" placing RB Jonathan Taylor on the non-football injury list, according to insider Mike Chappell. Taylor is currently on the PUP list. Chappell reports that Taylor suffered "some type of back injury while working out on [his] own in Arizona," which would presumably allow the Colts to move him to the non-football-injury list. The drama between these two sides is far from over. We'll keep you updated. We recently moved Taylor down the RB rankings.

Jonathan Taylor requests trade from Colts

        8:52pm UTC 7/29/23

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Colts RB Jonathan Taylor has requested a trade following a meeting with team owner Jim Irsay on Saturday. For context, Irsay took to social media on Wednesday to comment on the current landscape of the RB market. He shared in a tweet that the current collective bargaining agreement "took years of effort and hard work and compromise in good faith by both sides," calling the attempts by RBs to negotiate for higher pay "inappropriate" and referring to actions by their agents as "selling 'bad faith.'" It's not difficult to see how this situation unfolded from there. Taylor is coming off a year in which he only appeared in 11 games due to an ankle injury that required surgery. He still had a pretty strong season, logging a 192-861-4 rushing line behind a Colts offensive line that ranked 22nd in Football Outsiders' Adjusted Line Yards. A potential trade would send shockwaves through both the NFL and fantasy football landscape wherever Taylor ultimately lands. For now, we're operating under the assumption he'll be in Indianapolis to open 2023. See where he sits in our current RB rankings.

Jonathan Taylor lands on the PUP list

The former All-Pro back missed the last three games of 2022 with an ankle injury that required offseason surgery. We'll keep an eye on how quickly he'll be able to return to the practice field and ramp up action.
