"We'll go with the hot hand," 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said Wednesday of his Week 2 backfield. He added that RBs Ty Davis-Price and Jordan Mason will compete in practice this week for the #2 RB job. Jeff Wilson will open the Seahawks game as the #1 RB, but as is always the case with Shanahan backfields, it'll be a fluid situation. Davis-Price and Mason are worth stashing in fantasy leagues of 12+ teams.
The Dolphins and RB Jeff Wilson Jr. have agreed to a two-year contract reportedly worth up to $8.2 million. This move is in correspondence with another deal struck earlier on Tuesday keeping his teammate Raheem Mostert in town, effectively making this Dolphins backfield the same as it was in 2022. Upon Wilson Jr.'s arrival via trade in Week 9, he and Mostert produced well in tandem. The two concluded the season ranking as the RB35 and RB33 overall in PPR scoring respectively in that stretch. That said, Wilson Jr. has more financial upside in his contract. If we're to give an edge to one over the other, you could logically follow the money and go with Wilson Jr. as the favorite. There's still room for the Dolphins to add to this RB room via the NFL Draft, but Wilson Jr. is the best bet to produce flex-level fantasy output with RB2 upside in a given week.
Dolphins RB Jeff Wilson Jr. (illness) was a limited practice participant on Wednesday. Fellow RB Raheem Mostert (thumb) did not practice. The health of the Dolphins' backfield will be of great interest ahead of Sunday's Wild Card contest vs. the Bills, particularly with QB Tua Tagovailoa already ruled out for this game. Check back tomorrow for more information regarding this duo of backs.
Dolphins Jeff Wilson Jr. (hip) is active for today’s game vs. the Packers. He was limited in practice all week and listed as questionable, so it’s unclear how big a role he’ll play in this one. Consider Wilson a risk/reward RB3 in the plus matchup. RB Raheem Mostert remains the best bet in Miami’s backfield. RB Myles Gaskin is a healthy scratch.
Dolphins RB Jeff Wilson Jr. (hip) practiced in a limited fashion all week and is officially listed as questionable for Week 16. An absence from Wilson Jr. would give a jolt to the fantasy value of RB Raheem Mostert. Though Mostert rested for most of the week, only logging limited participation once this week, he'll be good to go as the Dolphins' RB1 presumably. The Packers' defense presents the 9th-best matchup in adjusted fantasy points allowed to RBs this season. Consider Mostert a RB2 with upside, and be sure to check pre-game inactives for Wilson Jr.'s status.
Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel said Monday that RB Jeff Wilson Jr. was close to playing Saturday night against the Bills, according to the team website. He called the RB day-to-day going forward. We'll track Wilson's status but would bet on him playing Sunday against the Packers. We'd still bet on RB Raheem Mostert leading the backfield work, but Wilson would almost certainly cut further into the split than remaining Miami RBs did at Buffalo.
