Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer called the 2024 season a “fluke” for TE Jake Ferguson. The 26-year-old missed one game due to an MCL sprain and two with a concussion. He failed to score on any of his 59 catches.
Here’s more from Schottenheimer (via the Fort Worth-Star Telegram):
"He definitely dealt with some stuff that was hard for him. Jake's always motivated. Jake is one of those tone setters who just plays the right way. But the look in his eyes and the way his body looks, in terms of physique, and the way he's moving has been noticeably different in a good way."
Ferguson shared his reflection on last season and what he’s aiming to change in 2025.
"My knee hurt, for sure," he admitted. "The concussion was weird. But I've said this before, if I'm on the field, I should be able to give it my all. I don't think I've ever played a full season and not scored a touchdown. That was something that I came into this offseason really working on. Just trying to really dial in on those things."
Ferguson finished TE10 in PPR points per game back in 2023. So there's certainly potential for useful fantasy totals.
But how will he perform alongside new Cowboy George Pickens? Ferguson projects as the No. 3 target behind Pickens and CeeDee Lamb.
The good news is that Dallas figures to be one of the pass-heaviest teams league-wide. An uncertain rushing attack could really put the offense on Dak Prescott's shoulders.
Ultimately, Ferguson is an enticing value option. As a snapshot: He's currently the TE17 in Underdog ADP -- four spots behind his placement in our best ball TE rankings.
