Rams QB Matt Stafford edged Patriots QB Drake Maye 366 points to 361 for 2025 MVP. Stafford announced at the end of his acceptance speech that he'll be back for the 2026 campaign. His career seemed to be on the ropes due to back trouble this past summer. But he was ready for Week 1 and turned in one of the best seasons of his career.
What They're Saying
Stafford with his four daughters by his side and the MVP trophy in hand: "I can't wait for you to cheer me on next year when we're out there kicking ass. So I'll see you guys next year. Hopefully I'm not at this event, and we're getting ready for another game."
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Stafford finished second among QBs in fantasy points per game last year. He led the position with seven top-five weekly finishes.
Stafford was fueled by his 46 TDs -- a career high and 12 more than any other QB in 2025. He also led the league with 4,707 passing yards.
Still playing at an extremely high level in his age-37 season, Stafford ranked seventh among 42 qualifying QBs in yards per pass attempt and first in Pro Football Focus passing grade.
He'll now look to become the eighth QB 38 years or older to throw for 4,000 yards. The current group: Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers, Drew Brees, Warren Moon, Brett Favre, and Aaron Rodgers.
Considering his age and lack of rushing ability, Stafford shouldn't be drafted anywhere close to his QB2 finish last year. He looks fairly priced at his early QB13 Underdog ADP.
