Falcons beat writer Josh Kendall expects Falcons QB Michael Penix to remain the starting QB "in 2026 and beyond." The second-year QB made nine appearances last season before suffering a partial tear of his left ACL.
What They're Saying
Here’s more from Kendall via The Athletic:
“Penix has all the tools to be a quality starter, and I like what I’ve heard from [new HC] Stefanski about his plan to give Penix a detailed, daily plan to get better. I think one of the previous offensive coaching staff’s faults was believing so much in Penix that he didn’t get enough daily coaching.”
As for Penix, he recently shared that he’s aiming to be ready for Week 1.
"I am doing real good right now. I just met with my doctor (Thursday)," Penix said, via Atlanta’s official site. "... We are starting to get things going. I am doing a lot of strengthening and stuff right now. I know I will be back and ready whenever the time comes."
November marked Penix’s third ACL surgery going back to college.
Fantasy Football Impact
Last year, Penix posted three top-12 fantasy finishes in nine games, albeit at QB10, QB11, and QB12.
Now, Atlanta needs to re-sign TE Kyle Pitts. And it's fair to say they could use another WR alongside Drake London and Darnell Mooney.
We'll continue to track Penix's status throughout the offseason. For now, he's coming at a predictable discount: QB28 in early Underdog ADP. Even then, he only makes sense in a 3-QB build.
