Packers RB MarShawn Lloyd has appeared in just one regular-season game since Green Bay took him in Round 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft. Hamstring, ankle, groin, and calf injuries, plus an appendectomy, have kept him off the field. But RBs coach Ben Sirmans said this week that Lloyd is healthy now, and the team is optimistic he'll contribute in 2026.
What They're Saying
Sirmans: "He did something that he hasn’t done before working with a [training] group, which was his first time in the offseason working with a group. So, I think that gave him a lot of confidence. He talked about how much stronger he is just in the lower half of his body, stronger than he’s ever been. So, with all those things giving him confidence, and he’s got a regimen that he does before we even go out to practice. So, we’re very optimistic, but we’ve all been optimistic before. So, we’ve just got to wait and see what’s going to happen, but he feels confident, I feel confident that he’s finally gotten to the point where he can be in there and be ready to play a full season."
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Despite two lost seasons to start his pro career, Lloyd is still only 25. More importantly, he finds a clear path to the No. 2 spot on Green Bay's depth chart.
The Packers lost RB Emanuel Wilson in free agency and made no significant additions to the backfield this offseason, leaving Chris Brooks, Pierre Strong, and Damien Martinez to compete with Lloyd for the No. 2 RB job.
A healthy Lloyd is the best of the bunch. He averaged 5.6 yards per carry across three college seasons, including 7.1 in his 2023 junior campaign. Then he clocked a 4.46-second 40 time at 220 pounds.
If Lloyd makes it through the rest of the offseason unscathed, we'd consider him the favorite to earn the title of Josh Jacobs Handcuff.
He might be worth a few shots in the final rounds of best-ball drafts, but Lloyd remains more of a "wait-and-see" player for now.
