Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving isn’t cleared for football action yet after postseason shoulder surgery, according to Pewter Report.
What They're Saying
Pewter Report: “Bucky Irving apparently has not been cleared to participate just yet coming off shoulder surgery. Time will tell if he is able to get cleared to see the field during OTAs or if the team will hold off until training camp.”
JoeBucsFan in February: “Irving had offseason shoulder surgery, JoeBucsFan.com has learned. Recovery and rehab are not expected to significantly impact his offseason preparation.”
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
It’s only mid-May, so it’s way too early to worry about Irving’s season. The Bucs open offseason training activities (OTAs) on May 26, with two more sessions in the first half of June.
If Irving is back for any of those sessions, we might be able to ignore this issue in summer drafts. But it’s late enough in the year to start tracking his progress. Irving also reportedly had some emotional struggles connected to the first significant injury of his career (check the JoeBucsFan link above for more), so we’ll watch for any reports on his mental status if this shoulder recovery lingers longer than expected.
We’re not altering our Irving projections for the shoulder at this point, but multiple injuries across his first two NFL seasons plus his diminutive size (195 pounds) definitely impact Irving’s touch projection.
He sits 21st among RBs in our half-PPR rankings vs. RB19 in current best ball ADP, so we’re not particularly targeting the Bucs back even if the shoulder proves fine.
