Jonah Coleman Headshot

We passed along earlier in June that Broncos RB RJ Harvey was missing on-field workout time while he rehabbed a surgically repaired shoulder. That time off might have given rookie RB Jonah Coleman a chance to challenge for more playing time this season. Coleman impressed in spring workouts, including in passing situations.

What They're Saying

RB J.K. Dobbins:He’s built. He has that mindset to get to work, and he shows he’s ready every day.”

ESPN’s Jeff Legwold: “Coleman has shown quickness and consistency in the passing game and awareness in pass protection. All the necessary boxes to check for a rookie running back who is looking to stand out. … Coleman has already shown he belongs in the rotation, especially if the after-contact prowess he showed in college shows up in the preseason.”

2026 Fantasy Football Impact

Harvey ranked a decent 28th in Pro Football Focus pass-blocking grade last year, among 63 RBs with at least 30 pass-blocking reps. But that trailed Dobbins’ grade, and Coleman rated well as a pass blocker at both college stops while handling significant blocking volume.

Blocking won't score fantasy points, but it can get a young RB on the field. Coleman also did more than just block, totaling 79 catches at 10.3 yards per reception over his final three college campaigns.

And as Legwold mentioned, we haven’t even gotten to the portion of the year where Coleman’s battering running style shows up.

The fourth-round rookie will likely open the regular season third on the depth chart, but if he keeps impressing, Coleman could cut into the playing time of Dobbins and Harvey.

This backfield will be one to watch throughout training camp and the preseason.
